What Is Biting Me During The Night

First, it is not bedbugs. I have lived in this apartment for over three years and every spring / summer, I have a problem with being bitten during the night. I am either sleeping or dozing. And I am bitten more than once. I may have five or six bites on different parts of my body. The bites are very itchy. Before the biting is over, I have several bites but they are usually gone by morning. The biting begins after I am either sleeping or trying to sleep. The biting is long over by daybreak. Usually the bites are gone by morning. As I have said, the biting begins in the spring or early summer. By mid summer, the biting is over. I never see any insects. Could it be ants / mosquitos / fleas / mites? Anyone else have a problem like this? Any suggestions?

It could be any of those things or it could be something you are allergic too. Most of the time when you get mysterious bites you never find the culprit. Some people think spiders are the ones who bite and although it could be the case most spiders don't bite unless they are scared of something.

I am wondering if it is allergies. It seems to have something to do with my apartment. I am itching and I have bites or hives when at home. But when I leave home, the situation greatly improves. I am going to try to monitor the situation.

hi bostonphil if its not bedbugs it might be tiny red ants as those little critters really sting and burn like nobody's business. Also the red ants around here in Southern California seem to disappear when really hot days appear here. it does sound like bedbugs but you sound confident that its not bedbugs

I am certain that it is not bedbugs because it has happened very year since I lived here. But it only happens this time of year and then it stops. I have been thinking ants or fleas but I never see anything. I also itch, not just in bed, but sitting in my rocking chair. If it is an insect, this must be the time of year the larvae hatch or mating season. But I am also wondering if it is an allergy. I am wondering if I have bites or hives.
