A month ago, I helped a friend who was asked to leave her apartment forcefully because she failed to pay a month's rent. Her landlord is a jerk in a way (though I may try to understand his terms and conditions) but everything can be solve when issues like that are done in a good talk instead of making a scene. I asked my uncle's help because he has connections when it comes to things like these. Legal matters plus finding a lawyer who offers free consultations. My friend signed a contract and it was stated there that she can only be forced to leave her place when she fails to pay three month's rent. I let my friend stay in my place for almost two weeks, offer her whatever I have and can be at help of. When things finally got settled between her and her landlord, she went back to her place and didn't hear from her for almost a week. Then just 10 minutes ago, I got an international call. It was from my friend's mom. Thanking me for helping her daughter. I was touched and surprised. I told her mom that I'm helping her daughter because she's my friend and any friend would do that to their friends. Her mom thanked me again and told me that she will repay me someday. After the call, my friend sent me a text message saying and thanking me for the help that I gave her and acknowledging me for being a true friend to her. I felt rewarded.

hi totallyundecided its so nice to hear someone being thankful whent you helped them like that. so manymylot discussons end up with the help being slighted and the person asking for more help yet and yet not thanking the person or offering any payback for money loaned. this is heartwarming and I would not mind helping someone who is grateful for my help either.I like to help those who are needy bu t dislike being uysed by someone who is just a user of people.

Hi, Hatley. Yes, just like you - I also try to avoid people who will use me for their convenience. I am very choosy when it comes to friends because I have also been used, lied and betrayed before. And I learned my lessons in a hard way.

Really a touching story on both of you. For your friends having you as a true friends helping her out to that situation of her. It is really a great feeling to be feel like you are rewarded for sometime that you made. Specially when you did it with out thinking for a things that will be back to you.

A simple thanks goes a long long way. I'm sure your friend didn't mean to be rude. She did have to go through a lot of things. At any rate...there ought to be more people like you! I'm sure that even without the repayment that your friend's mom promised, you'll be getting a lot of rewards for your generosity!

It seems to me she must have just called her mother and told her about it and the mother told her she should call and say thank you for you helping her out. Well I am glad she did thank you but you are right real friends will do what they can to help another friend in need out when they can.

That's really nice to hear, and you also deserve those acknowledgement. It's hard to find true friends that will give a helping hand until everything is fine and settled. Some friends might offer help, but not totally till it gives good results or won't stay until the problem is resolved. I salute you for being a good friend in the true essence

Wow! it really feels good to be acknowledged. For me a thank you is enough to inspire me more to help others. In my country, i could seldom hear those words from young people nowadays. Sometimes it seems like what you do for them is really your obligation that they dont even appreciate what you did even if you don't even know them. Your friend and her mother are people who knows how to appreciate other people's kindness. People like them, with proper values are already few. I think they need to be reoriented.

I agree. Young ones today, most of them, have become arrogant. I hardly hear them say thank you or even with a simple courtesy. I don't want to make the idea being generalized about them but I hope they would be taught well by their parents and their school.

That was very generous of you even for a friend. Of course it helped that you have an uncle with connections but not everyone would do everything they can for their friends. The landlord must be really desperate for money that he'd let someone go homeless just for cash. I commend you also. I hope you stay friends with her forever:)

He must be really desperate but he should treat his tenants like what he did to my friend because any tenants will stay loyal when their landlords are kind and accommodates their tenants well for they are investment also. Since it's done, all must be put up behind and move on. And yes, I hope we stay friends forever, too. Thanks, maxen.

Yes, it feels nice to be acknowledged and appreciated by those we've helped. I would love to have someone helping me out in that way too, and my sense of grateful to them is beyond description too. It's a 2 way cycle, be it helping or be helped. Some people take it for granted, help must be available just because of certain connections, relationships, family ties. Those are the kind of people that doesn't deserve any help.

I agree with you, Sanitary. It's always give and take and most of the time, it's taken for granted because no one sees the fulfillment when you help or when you're being helped at.

try to think of it in terms of the landlord, maybe he also is in need of the money , everyone has their problems , and money im guessing is the top five on everyones list . yea and as for being acknowleged it does feel great and rewarded , but doin something keeping acknowlegment and rewards in mind is a very bad practice

We did think of that but it's all been done now. At least it was settled in a good way.

That's true it feels great to be acknowledged and appreciated by someone or society we are in.This will make the society we are in to be a better place for each and everyone. By helping your friend iam sure she will never forget what you did for her and she will be talking everything of you. By being acknowledged one feels better and gives him/her morale to continue doing good to the society. Iam pleased for what you did hope i will learn from you and do the same to people who need help around me and the society.
