This morning I posted about Gerri having her pups. I thought she had 6 but I was wrong. Gerri had 8 babies this morning. I just got a good picture of them and when I looked in the nest again, I'd seen 8 of them. I wasn't expecting 8, she had more than her mother did before her.

OMG how exciting to see them in the picture! Wow they are so tiny. I have never seen baby gerbils before and thanks so much for sharing. I got so excited to see them. Wow you will have your hands full until they get good homes for them. It really has to be exciting to have them there.

I bet she would send you a couple just for your own entertainment. LOL I think they are cute, but on the other hand I am thinking I do not want to be a rodent grandma.

They are actually cute to view on the picture, but no I don't think I could raise one. lol, I would be too afraid as I am of hamsters and gerbils too. They remind me of rats and these just look so cute though.

hi kris I never realized baby puppies could be so tiny. Bjut themn I guess if you were to carry eight baby puppies you would want them small.wow she outdid her mom. I imagine now you will be looking for homes for some of them when they get big enough to separate from mom.She must be a small dog also which is nice too. congrats on all'the puppies. lol lol

Lol. I've only been talking about gerbils for a while now I can't get over how tiny they are myself. It will be a while before they get bigger. Being able to hand tame them from the start will be nice. I will be posting updates as the days and weeks go on.

It pays to read others responses before responding yourself as it says in the guidelines, hehe. ;)

you should've separated them BEFORE the babies were born, you don't need more gerbils! Do it NOW!

Gerbils are not like hamsters who are not social. Gerbils live in colonies and don't do well by themselves. So I can't split them up.

Well, you've got a regular little gerbil factory going now. How do you stop them reproducing whenever you decide to do that? I've never dealt with gerbils. My brother had hamsters when we were kids but that didn't last long. They look so small and delicate. Best wishes for all of them growing well and finding new homes.

There's no real way to stop them as you can't split them up. I'll just have to wait until she runs her course, which will be in less than 2 years, or try to pair her up with one of her litter once she's had the next one.

Now I miss having a pet:) I couldn't get one now that I have to be more focused on my son. He needs all the attention he can get from me so pets are a no-no for now. Take good care of those pups:)

They have to go out in pairs, they get really upset when they're by themselves. I found that out last night when I split the 2 of them up and the father went nuts in the other tank.

Wow, that is a big litter. Will she be able to care for them all? I hope some of the things that were posted were helpful. How are you going to get rid of them?

Just like my chubby. She was really very vigorous, she had more than her mother does. she was the only one who survive among her batch...
