credit card charges

I recently paid off several major credit cards and then get a bill in the mail saying I owe x amount more. So I call them and tell them I paid that bill off. Well it seems that they charge you interest PER DAY from the last payment to the payment you just made. What a rip off! I was really mad! So even though you think you have it paid off, you don't! If you pay off a card, beware! You may get another bill in the mail!

Oh, that would make me mad, too! I have had to put some medical bills on a credit card and I cringe to think of what it will cost me by the time I have it paid off. I have no choice right now, though. I'll be watching the daily interest pile up...

Thank you. I don't want to take out another loan to pay this off, but might have to if I can't get it done fast enough.

Sometimes we have to use credit cards, like it or not. It does cost us greatly in the end, but the credit card companies are sure happy about it! I actually got a HELOC loan to pay off my credit cards. The interest is lower and I can have it paid off in much quicker time as well. Best of luck to you!

I would pay the account off and close the account. Email them before hand that you are doing this and that past say today 5 minutes ago I am not paying anymore on this account. If the account is left open they can charge you. I am so sick of the credit card racket. I had about eight years back. Paid them off, closed the acounts, cut up the cards and never looked back! I was free! Living beyond your means is a terrible thing.

Yes, it is so easy to get into that credit card habit. It doesn't take long to rack up a lot of money owed with the high interest they charge. Nice of you to respond. Best wishes!

Well sorry to hear this but you really should look at the fine print on most credit cards and some do have this sort of set up where they can charge you per day for it. I know a few issuing banks that do this. You though as a Consumer need to pick which Credit Cards you are going to apply for or get as well some will have things like this in the fine print it is never in the big bold print so your job when getting a credit card is to ignore the big print that is what they are trying to get you to look at. They want you to buy in today. they want you to think of all the stuff you can get with this card well guess what the contract you are agreeing to is the one that is in fine print. Most will charge 21.99% for late payment interest. As a standard rate unless you have good credit. So I would say read the FINE PRINT. Also you can cancel it but they in no way scammed you into this you willing accepted the terms of agreement which covered the charges you got. They also know that 90% of people don't read the fine print or the Agreements that they send them because people are only thinking of the today as apposed to the future.

We are certainly lax on looking at the fine print. You are right. We are thinking of today, not the future. Makes you realize that you should check everything before signing an agreement. Best wishes to you.
