I recently sorted out my clothes, and literally selected what I can still use and what I can already hand down, what are those that could still be used by others, and what's going to go directly to the trash can. After doing it, it turned out that I don't have much left lol. I got it all cleaned up. And it got me thinking, back in my childhood, I was just lucky not to use hand me down clothes. Why? Because I am the only boy. And my mom would be compelled to buy me new ones if I need one. All my elder sister's clothes will be handed down to my sister next to me, to the fourth then to the fifth, then to the youngest. Wow. I was just lucky I'm a boy. And I always get new clothes every time I grow an inch. haha also with shoes and other things. Now, I want to hand all those stuff that could still be used but I don't enjoy using anymore. Was thinking of giving it to some orphanage or something. But I wonder to whom will I give those "formal attire" clothes that I still have but don't use anymore. I'm sure not anyone in the orphanage could benefit from it. LOL. Like the slacks and long sleeves. How about you lotters? Have you been lucky like me?

Im the youngest in the family. The age gaps between me and my two elder sisters are 5 and 6. Before t could fit into their clothes, it's worn out already so I never got hand me downs from them. When I became a teenager, I still couldn't receive anything from them since the eldest sister is shorter and thinner than me while the next sister is taller and a bit bigger. When it comes to shoes, my shoe size is much bigger than them.

I see. Then you're lucky too. Anyway, there's nothing really wrong with hand me downs so long as they're not that worn out, my sisters though, specially the younger ones would complain (mom is really great at thriftiness and frugality) so, she'd make the most out of every clothes, thus the hand me down system to my sisters. LOL. Just really lucky I am a boy.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with it really. I don't get hand me down clothes, but it popped in my memory that I do use hand me down books. LOL. I used to have hand me down books, so that my mom won't spend a single cent for my books in school. And that's up to college. I often borrow books from my friends who already took the course I am taking just to save up and not to spend on books anymore. LOL. And if I can't get my books from my friends, I would have a whole year reservation of books I needed in the library. LOL. I was so selfish then. I already repented on it though. But really, I haven't spent much on books back in college. Even the novel books I've read are courtesy of our University's library.

Me too! I'm the youngest, but unlike you I almost always have the hand me downs. But as chuyins said, there's really nothing wrong with that. I'm luck that my brothers take care of their belongings pretty well that's why their clothes can still be used by me. Not only clothes but also books in school. But still it's nice to know that we are just being practical because those hand me downs really can still be used and are in good condition.

My dad was one of nine kids, and he was the middle child. That meant that I had a lot of female cousins that were older than me. And, yes, that did mean that a lot of the clothes that I wore when I was a little girl were hand-me-down clothes. The thing is, I think I was lucky to have had the opportunity to wear those clothes because it meant that my parents were able to spend there money on things that were more important than buying clothes for us. Now that I have children of my own, they are the oldest boy and girl so I don't have the opportunity to be given hand-me-downs for them, but I do buy the bulk of their clothes used.

I see. that was great then. They're lucky to wear the new ones. And I guess they can hand their clothes down to their cousins? There's nothing really wrong with being practical. And I guess it helped your parents a lot to spend their money on things they ought to spend to aside from clothes.

Same like you, i never wear any hand me down clothes because i am the eldest of my siblings. My sisters all wears my hand me down clothes, since there are not much age gap and also all our size are almost the same at that time. Only when they are in their teenage times, then my parents started to buy separately clothes for each of us.

I am but I still use hand me downs. My parents get me clothes or jeans when I need. My cousins give me hand me downs because they have new gear or can't fit it. I should bless God for that.

Ah yes, there's nothing really wrong with hand me downs. Though my siblings complained about it, they sai, they can't get new ones because my elder sister just got a lot of hand me down clothes. I believe you are right with what you said, you'd still have to bless GOD for those gifts. GREAT!
