Sonic Drive In

Every mile you go down the road you will most likely see a Sonic here in my area. I really feel Sonic has become a staple in Texas and surrounding states. You can not go through the day without seeing a commercial for happy hour on the TV. Happy hour is a couple of hours. (2 to 4 PM) During that time all drinks and slushes are HALF PRICE! Let me tell you, at my Sonic when Happy hour comes around that place is packed! You can not find a place to drive in. So, is Sonic as big of a deal where you are as it is here in North Texas? If you sat yes, I would not be at all surprised!

You have never been to Sonic? GASP! Well, I guess you guys got your In 'n Out Burger so you don't need no Sonic! It is really not that bad and like I said the Happy Hour is always nice to go and get a drink for the afternoon.

When I was a kid we had NO Sonics, but I'm glad they are here, I like them. I like their burgers, their onion rings, their drinks...

Heck, we didn't have MCDONALD'S EITHER!!! Burger Chef was the only thing like that, we had a local burger joint, 2J's and they also owned the franchise for Kentucky Fried Chicken in town. Then there was a restaurant group that had a small chain of pretty good burgers called Holiday House. Burger Chef and Holiday House are now gone... along with a number of other privately owned burger joints. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burger_Chef http://www.botany.utexas.edu/mbrown/mbrownhome/moreland/hh.html http://www.statesman.com/news/content/news/stories/local/03/31/0331moreland.html

Childhood must have been horrific without Sonic! I agree, almost anything you get at Sonic is always good and at a fair price!

Seems like everyone else lives where they are not so dominant. I think the economy would go to complete nothing if we did not have Sonics around here!

Yes, I think it is. They just built a new one near me. I think in a ten mile radius of where I live, there are four Sonics. I like their drinks more than anything. I'm not too crazy about their food. Back when I was in high school, the Sonic happy hour was 3pm to 5pm. So when school ended at 3pm, we'd go to Sonic and get a half price slush. I'd always pick cherry. A good memory to have.

I agree, there drinks are what you go for at Sonic as the food is well, not bad, but not the best fast food you can get. If anything I love getting me a drink during happy hour! Same here in town, after school you better watch out because all the kids will be down there getting them a drink.

How does one "Sat" yes, please do explain. I'm quite interested to know (and quite sarcastic too). Let's see, there are TWO that I can think of, lol one about fifeteen minutes away, another about 30, both in different counties. I've been having happy hour more lately, and yeah it's great! (especially when you don't pay for it :-P)

Sonic opened a few years ago here in Minnesota, but it's not like McDonald's where there is one or more in almost every city. I saw commercials for Sonic before it arrived here. There happens to be a Sonic right across from where I live. However, I have only been there a couple of times. When we traveled to South Carolina in 2008, we ate at a Sonic and it was fun and something different because it is a drive in. We used to have A&W Drive-Ins years ago, and the concept was very similar to Sonic. But I have to admit, I have not been to Sonic's happy hour. That is now on my to-do list as something for this summer.

When I see that you write you have only had Sonic for a few years it amazes me! We have had one here in my town for at least 35 years. I think they started in Texas so that explains that. I have to say Sonic is NOTHING like McDonalds. The burgers are not such a greasy nasty mess. You should definitely go during Happy hour and get a drink. Maybe even put a flavoring in as they have like 20 flavors you can add to your drink. A&W Drive Inn? Is that like the A&W sit in restaurants, but in drive inn form? I have actually never been to an A&W. I believe I read that they will be going bankrupt this year.

We don't have them in Canada, but I loved them to bits, in AZ. They had some kind of chilled coffee drink (summer 2007) and we used to drive all the way to Phoenix for one!!!

If I moved somewhere that did not have Sonic I would most likely go CRAZY! Oh yeah, I think I know what you talking about. Is it a Java Chiller? I would drive 40 or more minutes to get me a Sonic drink, just something special about it.
