I always sleep with my hair wet. Every night after work it's already my habit to take shower. I want to feel refresh after a hard days work. My mother keep on telling me not to sleep with wet hair coz it will cause damage to my eyes. Is it True?

There is zero scientific evidence that "sleeping with wet hair" causes colds or any vision impairment. But this doesn't mean that it is not harmful to our health. Well, it is not directly harmful but the fungi that would develop in your wet pillow cause many respiratory ailments. Fungi could also harm our scalp. So if you can't avoid sleeping with wet hair, be sure to change pillows frequently.

My mother also told me sleeping with wet hair can cause damage to my health. According to my experience, sleeping with wet hair often makes me get a headache in the next morning. So, it's really not good to the health anyway.

My mother told about the same thing when I was young. So I do not sleep when my hair is still wet. And it already became a habit to have my hair dried up before going to bed especially at night.

All superstitious beliefs are not true, that's why they are called superstitious. I only rely on beliefs that are proven and backed up by scientific studies. But in the case of sleeping while hair is wet, they say it's bad, maybe they are right. Your pillow may get wet!

I don't see how wet hair could damage your eyes. I've been sleeping with wet hair all my life and I haven't had any problems. It's probably just an old wivestale that your mom heard and now she's warning you. I sleep with wet hair all the time and I don't think there's anything you have to worry about.

My mother used to tell me sleeping with my hair wet would give me a stiff neck, certainly nothing about my eyes. I have two teenage daughters. They both wash their hair at night. They both have different hair so they have different "techniques". My 18yo always sleeps with wet hair. She says it works better that way so that in the morning it will be nice and easy to use a hair straightener on. My 14yo washes earlier in the evening and straightens her hair before she goes to bed. It's better that way for her. However, if she has an evening soccer practice or game, she washes her hair later in the evening and sleeps on it wet. Neither of my daughters have developed any health issues because of that. I have found that in the hottest evenings in summer, jumping in the swimming pool before I go to bed (or having a cool shower) cools me down enough to be able to sleep. So I sleep with wet hair, usually in a pony tail. Back when I was a kid I thought it was the wrong thing to do and told my kids so, but have since realized there is absolutely nothing wrong with sleeping with wet hair. All you're going to get is a damp pillow.

From the research i have done i can't find any scientific evidence that sleeping with wet hair will cause any serious medical problems like going blind our the other major myth of catching pneumonia. The only evidence i could find is that you may damage your hair especially if you are a restless sleeper, this is because when hair is wet the hydrogen bond is broken, therefore hair strands are more fragile and easier to break thats why you should use a wide toothed comb to comb wet hair.

I often hear that myth but I don't think that it can cause blindness.Well,I'm not also comfortable sleeping with wet hair.I'm only doing that if I'm exhausted.Wet hair can cause my pillow to get wet and it will be difficult to sleep with wetness around.I suggest to dry your first before sleeping or just take a shower without wetting your hair instead.
