My sister and I are planning to have a yard sale in a few weeks and we're curious about what prices to charge. We mostly have clothes and they're all in good condition. I have a lot of barely usd baby items such as clothing and toys. What prices to you pay when you go to yard sales?

Hi Flight84, Well, it may depend on your area... but here, people generally ask 50 cent to a dollar for clothes that are in good condition, and $3-$5 for jackets or coats in good condition.

That's what I figured. I was hoping we could do a little more because we have some good clothes, some that have never even been worn. It's better than nothing though I guess! Thanks Angelee_27!

Charge more for the baby clothes than "regular" clothes. The regular stores certainly do, maybe it will work for you guys.

Yeah, and all his stuff is barely used. He outgrew stuff so quickly he hardly wore most of it. I figure it's a good thing I have a lot of cold weather items to sell of his. People can buy it up before fall and winter come.

I think the general rule is 10 cents on the dollar. If you paid $10 for an item when it was new, you can sell it for around a dollar. Of course, if something is in really good condition or like new, you can get more from it. I haven't been to one garage sale this year!

Both the two responses above would be what I too would place my judgement on as well. Just wanted to add that as the sale goes on and if it is a one day sale that if you find you just want to be rid of some items, go ahead and offer a reduced price. It is best to get something instead of having to store everything later. But of course that is if you are willing. But if you have more then one day of sales feel it out and apply a little discount for instance if you say $1 item and if they buy two they can get for $1.75, just as an example. Good luck, I did a few several years ago and made some nice cash.

I haven't had a yard sale in a few years and I was unsure of how to price things now. Thanks for the information!
