As we all know in cricket India holds no.2 position in one day series after Australia, rank first in test series. But what about the Indian footballers, they are still dreaming, not even break through their dreams and come in reality? So what is the reason behind their failure? Can you share your views.

Indian footballers are quite a bit short of the international standards. The decline of Indian football is a mystery to most. In late 50s and early 60s, India had a good football team and in fact qualified for one of the World Cups. But since then football has steadily declined and hold of cricket has increased. As of now generally the stamina of Indian players really poor. Like the recent qualifiers against Qatar where for one half they really challenged Qatar, but in the second half they were completely decimated. Cheers! Ram

I dont think that indian footballers are not succeeding. Actually Cricket is one of the most favourite games in India. And everybody watches it .But there are very few people rather i say a very rare people who watches football . So i dont think that indian footballers are succeeding . Rather people must show a keen interest in watching football.

That makes sense but what about when the world cup happens, I bet there are alot of people in India watching the football games, so I believe the reason India does not have a good football team is because of the minute funding it has as opposed to the funding cricket gets.

Football is a very different game from cricket. It needs lot more stamina, skill, speed, and precision, as well as ability to take on blows. While Indian football setup has been trying to invest more in terms of finance and technology, there is still a lot that remains to be done. Also, we do not have that much passion for football. Once more youngsters come into football, we might see dramatic improvements.

I believe that Indian football is not a failure, but rather we spend way more funds for the Indian cricket team. In India, most people are more concern about cricket. They need to spend more funding on the football team if India wants to have a chance at the world cup qualifiers, asia cup, etc.

Indian cricket as you must be aware was equally in bad shape before 1983 world cup triumph. After India became the world champs more and more people followed the game and then the game was supported by business community who tried to exploit the popularity of the game by investing into it for popularization of their product. I am from Goa which is traditionally football crazy but now it has been noticed that there are more cricket followers than football followers in our place. Indian football federation is trying hard to make the game popular and I am confident it will get its old glory one day. There was an heartening news 2 days back when India football team defeated more fancied Qatar in a friendly in preparation for their world cup qualifier against U.A.E.. We shall all wish all the best for our team to get qualified for the upcoming world cup.
