I remember there was a song called Y.M.C.A. many years ago and was sung by The Village People.I checked it out from youtube lately and found it funny when they keep on singing the words that " before you stay you go Y.M.C.A."I am not sure how does the Y.M.C.A. in your city looks like, but the three Y.M.C.A. in my city are still acceptable. They are not the best when compare to the hotels (I don't think we will compare Y.M.C.A. with the high class hotels anyway), but still it is still clear and cheaper places for the travelers to stay for a few days. Some of the facilites are still good such as swimming pool when compare to the low class type of hotels in my city. That's why I think Y.M.C.A. is still a good place for the lower expectation consumers. What do you think?Share with us.

We do have a Y.M.C.A. here at our place but truthfully, I never really knew what it is for. All I know is they have the best sports equipment, pool and other facilities that are of great quality as compared to others. I'm just not sure if they're cheap but I heard that maintenance is taken seriously and they live up to the standards that the name implies.

There is a Y.M.C.A. in the city I live in. Of course it has a swimming poole, basketball courts and a work out area with weights machines, etc. They used to let people live or stay there but that has not gone on for years. I didn't know they still let people do that at some Y.M.C.A.'s!

Now this is news to me, I didn't realize that the YMCA still offered rooms! After reading your post, I did a little searching to find out which cities support housing and I noticed that they are still doing it in NYC. Not many things are cheap in NYC, but there Jamaica branch has pretty decent rates. Especially if you are in a pinch and need a room, the prices there are doable. It's good to see that some things haven't changed ... although there membership and program fees [YMCA] are way much higher than they were when I was a youngster ... it's still good to know they are still around and are offering some of the same things that they did back then ...

Well, the YMCAs in our city are actually not a place for someone to stay that is facing a difficult time in their lives. Instead, in our city the YMCA is actually more like a gym. There are three of them here in Lexington and they offer a lot of different services. There are swimming pools and workout equipment. They also offer classes and childcare options as well. I really think that they are providing a great service to our community.
