Mel and Joey aired final episode

After airing 360 episodes every Sunday, Mel & Joey aired its final episode yesterday. I'm personally saddened by this news because this show has been entertaining and informative at the same time only to be replaced by a talent show. They could just change its time slot if the management really wanted the talent show on that time. I mean, there are other shows that should have been cut rather than Mel & Joey.

I sometimes get to watch Mel and Joey on Sundays, and yeah it's kinda sad that they're ending their run. It was a good run, though. And they managed to stay in a good spot in the ratings for how many years. But some good things must come to an end. And with Mel and Joey, I think yesterday was a good time to say goodbye, while they still were faring well in the ratings. At least, when people look back, they can smile and say that this has been a great show and it has affected their lives in a positive way.

I'm not really a fan of GMA but I know how it feels when a show you like will end. And maybe bluespygirl migh be right, maybe they've lost there touch on making quality episodes for the audience. I'm curious, what's the tilte of the talent show that they're going to put on that time slot?

They didn't announce/launch the talent show yet. The news just said that the show will give way for a talent show.

I agree... the mass viewers are so hooked with talent shows that they take for granted informative TV programs. It's still a business and TV companies will obviously go for shows that would possibly gain them higher ratings. That's why it's called showbiz (show business)...

There's just too many talent shows already and almost none of the informative shows. If these TV companies are just after high ratings then they may as well have talent shows and pamudmod shows 24/7.

Yes, it's really a very informative show.Maybe they are being left behind by other network with the same format.Anyway all things must end one way or another. It's better to end while they are still hot than wait until it gets col. Thanks for sharing my friend.

I am saddened by this news too that the show has ended. I like the portion where in they feature intersting houses of some people. :) I thought of this end because it seems to me that they do not show quality episodes anymore in the last few weeks. I guess the saying "some good things never lasts" apply to this.

Now, that's a tough management decision. I am certain that they have a good basis in making such a decision, e.g. ratings, actual public response, boar-dam, economics. Audience change as our society evolves into a very competitive world, a good example of this is the system of educational changes. With an ever changing society television company must be up-to the latest trend. They have (Mel&Joy) contributed a generation of good laughter and entertainment to our society, I for one salute them. I am sure Mel&Joy has accepted whatever management decision has made and has done an excellent graceful exit. Life has to move on.

Even before it was aired for its final episode, I have read in the Yahoo news about such farewell of the show. I am saddened also because the show is an entertaining and educational. Indeed, the reason for such final airing was due to the network's strategic move to air a talent reality show instead. The time slot of Mel and Joey is the same with the time slot of other network's Pilipinas Got Talent and Talentadong Pinoy. I understand because it is part of business. It would be very difficult where to insert the show if not to replace it.

i heard from some news that the management of GMA actually classified the incident as retirement. i think it's just fine for the show. but anyway, it's really saddening to see a good show to retire.

Hi there, I was surprised by your topic discussion, I did'nt know that the show I have had watched yesterday was the last one. The reason why I was astonished with the one they are being telecast is kind a last and final as they were airing the places where they have been. Perhaps, the management will not totally abolish the airing of this show. Maybe they will just repackage it according to what is on-going trend in the Philippine television. As far as I know, Mel & Joey, is kind a wholesome show that informs and entertains its viewers and perhaps thru these reasons, the management is just thinking of airing it again sometime with a repackage and more delightful approach to the televiewers. As there are times, the current show will just have its ending temporarily as this will come out again with a new and repackage ideas.

Even though I'm not a fan of GMA, I feel lucky to watch Mel and Joey for the last time yesterday. I already had the feeling even if I didn't know back then that it was the last. They were talking about happy endings and their past episodes - something in common of the last episodes of the talk shows in the Philippine media. Since they had 360 episodes, my guess would be they were around the visual media for about 7 years - only good talk shows reach this far. Kudos for Mel, being able to stick to the show since Mel and Jay.

I haven't watch the show for a very long time already but yea, I agree that this show is very informative. OH well, the producers wants to compete with other channels time slot and could have indeed move it. Maybe no producer would like to produce it already since as far as I know some shows in gma are not financed by network it self but by only producers. If Jay will back they could make a comeback someday, the "Mel and Joey"..lol
