Why do we dream? Short answer: Nobody actually knows for sure but there are loads of popular theories. Most of what you've heard about why we dream is based on maybe a little bit of science and psychology, and a whole lot of pure speculation. Is it healthy? Considering everyone who has a full sleep cycle dreams, yes... I would hope so! There have been studies were subjects were prevented from having the dream cycle of sleep, and the results proved emotionally unhealthy. How does it work? There's not really a whole lot of clear answers about that either. It has to do with brainwaves and nerves firing. Have you any idea about all this? I'm hardly an expert, but I've been interested in dreams and dreaming since I was itty bitty and I've read lots of books on the subject. I've been keeping a dream journal since I was 12. Personally I don't really think there's much purpose to dreaming other than entertainment and a creative outlet. I don't believe dreams have any sort of symbolic, subconscious, or prophetic meaning... but I still love dreams.

Though there is no scientific evidence but in our i past there were specialists in king's ministers to predict the dream's effect and meaning. Like when Buddha was born his mother saw white elephant which was a holy sign. Somehow i feel that this life itself is a dream Or a very planned and big dream you can say. When and how we suddenly entered into it we do not know. when we die we awake from this dream and we know the reality. I liked your facts regarding dreams. Thanks for replying.

Dreams have always held spiritual, cultural, and religious significance. It's a shared human experience through history, and it's actually really funny that we have dreamed for so long and yet know so little about it. As for your other theory... you're not the only one who's said that to me, believe it or not. I've met lots of people who seem to think that they're dreaming and all of life is a dream. I imagine that's a funny way to go through life. I'm awake. I'm pretty sure at least.
