Hello Mylotters, Last SUNDAY i went with my family to ZOO as my wife was insisting me to go to ZOO from several days for my kids.As my kids always become happy to see animals on TV though they never had the chance to see them in actual. It was hot that day i still was not ready i thought it will be better for us to stay home in such hot day but my wife became angry so to persuade her i took them to ZOO. My kids were happy to see wild animals like wolf, beers, deers, elephants etc.We were all tired as its a big ZOO in DELHI and to see whole zoo in one day is a very tough that too along with kids.We all were sitting in the park over there under tree and was looking after my kids they were so happy to see animals but i was thinking deep in my mind why we human beings are so cruel as for our enjoyment we are giving pain to these innocent animals. When in such hot conditions we are not willing to go outside our homes then what is the fault of these animals who are bound to sit under sun in a cage to amuse human beings as in most of the cases the arrangements in the ZOO is not that much good.Do you feel that animals are only to amuse or to support human beings in one or other way. DO YOU THONK THAT WE HUMAN BEINGS HAVE THE RIGHTS TO DO ANYTHING WITH ANY ANIMAL JUST BECAUSE WE ARE THE MOST INTELLECTUAL CREATURE MADE BY GOD??? What do you say???

Some of the animals have that type of enclosure. But here in US most zoos have made large natural habitats for the animals. Those i believe are better than just a cage. I still feel sad for them but they may be dangerous if left to run wild. Maybe the apes throw feces at the crowds because they are disgruntal about being locked up.

Then too there are the ones that would be extinct if man did not intervine. Natural habitats are the way to go.

Hello jdyrj777, Yes its better to have natural habitat than to have a cage. Some animals are dangerous though but that does not mean that we have to kill their freedom which is their right to have.

At least animals gets protection from human and right time lunch in the zoo, thats what i think and i think animals too think the same, atleast they dont have to go for hunt and no tension of starvation while you can get food just by amusing people, sitting under the sun is bad, i hope the zoo people provide proper arrangement for shelter, apart from circus its better off in zoos.

such poor of their health, then its better to leave it in the wild but then again its not save poeple would hunt these poor creatures, i think they should hand these animals to animal reserve in africa, where they can live like old days and hunt too.

Hello Fireheart, Here in INDIA hunting is strictly prohibited people who are found guilty are put behind the bars. May be to leave them in forests is better option. or we shoulld improve the zoo facilities.

It's hard to understand why your city has a zoo if they are not going to maintain the animals properly. We have strong laws to try and prevent cruelty to animals and I just wish this was the cASE in your country as well. It is our duty to care for animals... and many zoos have huge programmes in place for housing the animals in the best possible way and there are also breeding programs to ensure the continuation of the breeds. Animal cruelty saddens and depresses me.

Hello mstickle, Animal cruelty depress me too. But i also don't know why it happens??? Government should do something to avoid it but its not doing anything.I also personally recommend that we should not have a ZOO if we can't follow the standards and could not give these animals the better place to live in.

Here in Australia the animals in the ZOO are very well looked after[thank Goodness for that!] but none the less they are kept in cages[ quite big of course] but its still a cage!...some one said those animals are preserved from hunting so they are better in the ZOO...so that way they can live for years! and have babies and preserve their genes!...I have one comment to make...I prefer to face the hazards of life[ what ever that may be] than live a long life in a cage...to me freedom is something we all should have...animals and humans alike! one may live in a golden cage...but freedom is precious.

When God, created the earth and all creatures. God said that human being will the right to all of them and I think one of the right is to protect them... We do what we want to do for those animals. We have the right to eat them if we want. We have the right to make them as pet if we want. Anything what we do for animals is a right given by God to us.

Hello aerous, No we don't have any right to do anything with the animals. GOD made us more intelligent than any other creature on earth but never given us any right to do any thing with them there world is totally different and we have NO right to interfere in their life.We should help them though as GOD has made us that much capable.

I guess there are some prohibitions in maintaining a zoo.In order for someone to operate a zoo they must follow certain standards in maintaining one. I agree to put some animals who are near to extinction in order for them to propagate. To be taken cared off complete with facilities and medical experts to look after them but if not I'll say no.As you have said, you think that the animals in the zoo you have visited are neglected left in the heat of the sun without shelter. Thanks for sharing my friend.

Hello stanley, I think they get approval when they start a zoo by following all standards but when they start once then they don't follow that standard and no body sees it as there is a lot of corruption specially in INDIA. Thats the better idea those species of animal which are vulnerable and are on the verge of extinction should be kept under some ideal conditions but necessarily not to be in zoo to breed.

Yes, the animals are protected, but we turn them into something they were not supposed to be. I believe the better option is to create a space - like in some places in Africa - where they can exist in an environment as close as possible to their natural home. We tend to forget that it IS us that are driving them out of their environments.

Well,i guess the zoo you are referring here doesn't met the Natural Resources rules and standards. Why does cages were build under the heat of the sun and let those poor animals suffer the heat eh? Animals in the zoo should be kept in same as their habitat. Zoo here in our place look like a jungle due to many trees and each animals are placed to where it should belong. Monkeys are placed in a cage as big as the forest..with tress inside the cages. Birds as well...the whole area like a mini forest is being covered as cage and animal inside lives like in a forest. Those big animals like tiger's lion and the likes are the only animals who are separated in a much secured cages but still kept in a cool place with trees around. That is not really fair for those animals to be keep that way...hope your government will find that and give proper rules and standards for zoos.

Hello Jaiho, Yes they don't meet the requirements & standards in INDIA.I saw monkeys in a cage that was not big cage as it was looking as they have been captured there to conduct some test on them.Lions & tigers were in a separate cages but those were not looking comfortable there.Hope some day management will leave the corruption and will think about these innocent animals.

Hi sjvg Firstly I am glad you spent the day with the family and enjoyed the day at the zoo. I have gone so many times and still to date find it to be a lot of fun. I am sorry to hear that the zoo management in India is not doing a proper job with maintaining the animals. This is not right because if they are keeping them in the zoo/cages they should be properly caring for them. Here in the US they do a wonderful job at caring for the animals here, one of the reasons they charge at some of the zoos is to maintain be able to maintain the zoo grounds and animals. I wish they make changes their because it is not fair on the poor animals.

Hello HWG, It was a wonderful picnic for me and my family. My kids were really happy to see those wild animals as they saw them in real for the first time in life. I rarely go to zoo.It was really sad to see the pathetic situation of these animals in the zoo. I hope sometime will come when management will look over to these issues and take actions to create healthy environment for these animals in INDIA.

Don't the animals cages have roofs that could prevent the sun getting into them? I think they should be roofed in case it rains or is too hot. As humans we should take care of animals. we have no right to hurt them physically or torture them in any way. Hence, those zoo keepers should see to it that the animals at the zoo are given shelter, food and medicine in case they get sick. They maybe are animals but they get hurt too.

Hello SIMPLYD, No they don't have for some of the cages. This should be the responsibility of zoo management to regularly check the facilities there and to avail facilities to those helpless animals as they cannot speak we have to understand their requirements as this is our responsibility.

I believe ZOO parks help to prevent several animal species from extinction. We human beings kill animals more or less around the world. Then the weather and other nature powers create environments where animals have hard time to survive. That's my positive view on ZOO parks.

Hello Qee, Yes Zoo parks are helpful to prevent species of several animals from extinction by giving them the place & environment for reproduction. But the climatic & space where they are kept to be monitored and the animals kept should feel that they are at better place than their natural habitat.

surerly we are the most cruel creature made by god we are so selfish that for our profit we can do anything if we want to conserve wild life we should first provide them all facilities animals being innocent should not be caged just be at their place and feel it.A LIFE IN CAGE AND BEING PUPPET OF OTHERS.

Hello swati, Nobody wants to be the puppet and no one wants to dance on someone's tune may be its human or animal. The difference is only that human beings retaliate as they can speak of but these innocent animals are helpless as they never can complain only are forced to tolerate in a hope that they will have a better tomorrow some day.

Hi, I am not surprised to know your feelings. Here in India we do need to improve our zoo conditions. It is honestly heart breaking to see these animals suffer. They are mostly there for display. The hygiene level is pathetic, they are under fed.The conditions they live in are crammed. My heart really goes out to them.

Hello Diva, Its right hygiene level is also not up to the level as this should be so as to meet minimum requirement.Due to this only we see many of the animals get sick & die due to the diseases they catch there. Hope things will improve some day in INDIA also.

Well, honestly, those animals are better inside the zoo than outside. Inside, their lives are preserved. Outside, they are exposed to hunters and people who just want to kill animals for their own good without considering anything else. If I would have the chance to own a zoo, I would want a really huge place for the animals that they would feel they are free. THe difference is they are not in danger.. I think that's the best thing for them. Let them free but make sure no human will hurt them. And if humans really the most intellectual creation, then that's what we should think of, what do you think?

Hello banny, I think the management is better than INDIA in Phillipines. But they need freedom and they require their natural habitat. You must have seen it & observed it whenever you have visited ZOO.
