Guidelines for Task Creators - Have you seen them?

I generally never start discussions - or rarely participate in discussions - that reiterate information that is available in the guidelines, Terms of Use Agreement or FAQs here. However, it seems that there are always tasks being created that do not respect the specific guidelines for that area of myLot. Specifically, PTC (paid to click) tasks are not permitted. At one time, early on, the Tasks section was completely swamped with people trying to gain referrals here for their PTCs. The decision was made by the administration to disallow such tasks and it is specifically stated in their "prohibited uses" information. It makes sense because we are not allowed to post for referrals in the discussions, either. If you are interested in creating tasks here, those of us who may work on them would be grateful if you would please read the relevant FAQ before you begin. It's not very long and it provides a lot of information: FAQ - Tasks as Creator: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq22.aspx Specifically, here are the types of tasks that cannot be created: Are there restrictions or prohibited uses of myLot Tasks? * You may not use myLot Tasks for illegal or objectionable activities. Here are some examples of prohibited activities. Any tasks found violating these rules will be removed immediately and could be grounds for account cancellation. o fraud o disrupting or degrading the operation of any website or internet service o direct marketing o spamming o unsolicited contacting of users o impermissible advertising or marketing activities o infringing or misappropriating the rights of any third party o posting illegal or objectionable content o creating a security risk o promoting PTC (paid-to-click) sites or programs Thanks for letting me get that off my chest

I do know that if we see any that go against the guidelines we are asked to help admins by reporting them. I think it is a good idea as this way some members unaware of the guidelines will then not waste efforts.

Yes and my thoughts is that eventually the task can be caught by admin and any member who has completed it awaiting credit will loose out.

Another good point... creating tasks that don't respect the guidelines is not only wasted effort for the creator and any worker that may try to accept... it's also more work for admin who has to go and remove them As in the discussions, I try to stay far from tasks that appear to violate the guidelines. At this time, I only work on SharonBucks tasks, actually.

Thanks for posting this! I agree - I look at the task list sometimes and just think about what a waste of time some of the tasks are, and clearly they are not in line with the terms and conditions. I think these kind of tasks should be removed to stop cluttering up the task dashboard area.

I try not to get frustrated, bouncybug, but I really think that the tasks area here has a lot of potential. If people would use it for its intended purpose, there is a great "on demand" workforce available here at myLot. Many people here have been doing all sorts of online work for a long time and bring a lot of experience and talent to the table. It could be an opportunity to connect people that could actually help each other with online projects and there could be better compensation involved than the 1 or 2 cent tasks that are constantly being posted. I agree with you completely that the tasks area is cluttered - and there are indeed tasks that are regularly posted that don't align with the guidelines. It results in people always posting discussions to say that the tasks are useless and the whole thing should be removed from myLot -- I don't agree with that at all. I think it should stay but should be used correctly. I've had months where my earnings have been in the hundreds of dollars (not in cents) and that is thanks to tasks. I know it's possible for it to be a good thing! Now, if we could just get people to stop expecting something for nothing and offer tasks of reasonable reward... and get them to read the guidelines before they create a task... that would be awesome
