Feel tired after waking up

July 24, 2011 1:55pm CST
Isn't it supposed to be that after we wake up we feel refreshed and re-energized? But not for me. Each time for the past years I've been waking up drowsy, feeling drained and tired and I always feel like my head is heavy. I've been gathering up factors and reasons why I've been experiencing this but never really found a fit solution for the problem. Do any of you feel tired after waking up too? Why do you think you have this problem? And what do you think you should add or give up or lessen in your lifestyle to improve this situation?

It could be possibly you did not have you Non-REM( rapid eye movement) stage of sleep. Non-REM is known to be the restful sleep. on the other hand, You must have achieve only the REM sleep where dreamin occurs. in this stage, your brain is high active due to impulses causing the dream. It occurs approximately every 3-4 hours lasting about 90 minutes. I suggest that you take a warm bath before sleeping to keep you relax and drink some milk which is rich in tryptophan. Tryptophan is known to induce sleep. :)

Hi emerald! To add your suggestion, maybe he needs to have warm milk before sleeping. Milk contains a lot of tryptophan and bananas, as you know bananas contains potassium that can relax the heart. Try this combination!

Sleep is one of those things that few people will seek medical help for, but it may help dramatically. If you sleep badly because of stress, noise, pain or a hundred and one other reasons it may help to try and find a way to deal with it. Sleep clinics help test the persons sleep and see if it has something physical behind it. The lack of certain hormones and vitamins can dramatically change sleep patterns. The thing is it may be something as simple as an pillow that is too soft or a lumpy mattress. Well hope you find a solutions, because it is annoying to always wake up tired.

You know what, everyday morning for the days that I have to work. I have to get up early in the morning, and I definitely need to get up on time. Sometimes, I felt sleepy after waking up too, but I still have to sum up my will and go to work.

Hi mewpeach! Maybe you can check on your blood chem, or maybe your diet, those can affect your mood and sleep pattern. When was the last time you checked your blood sugar? I suggest you should check your blood works.

Consider your sleep position.because sleep position greafty affects the fitnes of the body the next day.many people consider trivial with sleeping position, but lock you in shape when you wake up is strongly influenced by the position your sleep. So try to fix your sleeping position of the current by changing of a more relaxed sleep.

I did have the same problem some months ago. It was coming from the high blood pressure I was having then. From then, I started taking the pills recommended by my doctor. And, besides, I started practising meditation every evening after I get back home from my work. That was an immense help reducing the blood pressure. Meditation is very helpful to mental and physical health. I would suggest to you too to try meditation. Even if just 15 minutes a day, it will be very helpful.

I've been having the same problem for the past years. Many of the things they say here are right. But I think also that the porblem is with my way of living. I work too much, suffer a lot of stress etc. I even don't have time to think about the healthy things that I shoud put in my life. So the answer is change. But how to make it?

It could be that too much outside light is coming in through your curtains or blinds. Do you have trouble falling asleep or not sleeping through? Some chamomile tea an hour or so before bed could help too. But most likely, it could be your diet. I used to have allergies really bad. Sneezing all day & itchy nose, it was horrible. I cut out all processed foods (as much as i could), more fresh food as opposed to boxed where you add water. Processed foods have a lot of sodium and chemicals that do not allow the body to work the way it should. you could try a diet change for a week & see what happens. This might sound silly, but when it came down to me having to but processed food, i would go with the 1 that had the least amount of ingredients (chemicals. Chemicals really do AFFECT our bodies. So, fresh fruits, veggies and very low to no processed foods may do the trick! I know I feel a heck of a lot better! good luck!
