Do you stress out about it or dont care?

Perfect lawn - Good looking lawn

I was watching "Nature" last night and they were talking about the stress some men go through about their green lawns. They explained how green grass was invented when they started having people living in the suburbs after the war. They say that the companies had to explain to the people now living in the suburbs about their lawns. How to make it grow, how to care for it, how to feed it, how to spray pesticides on it, and how to cut it. It was a whole new market!!! So do you care about how your lawn looks? Does it have to be super green and perfect or are you satisfied with cutting it once a week so it looks clean?

We do our best to keep it cut regularly but beyond that not really. We have tons of weeds but we don't want to use pesticides nor do we have the money to do all the fancy seeding/feeding or lawn service... so as a neighbor says as long as it's green who cares!

My thoughts exactly, as long as its green and kept clean, who cares!! Ours too is a mix of grass and weeds and sometimes we get tiny white flowers!! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your lawn, I know I do

Haha, I really don't care at all about the lawn. Maybe it's just a girl thing. We let the guys take care of it. Of course if the guys I live with lazy and stopped taking care of it, I would probably at least mow it. Not really water it (we get enough rain) or obsess about it, as there's no competition in my area (I'm in the hood..Everyone else's lawn looks like crap). lol

Haha, you're right, it IS a guy thing. Im the same, I dont really care about the lawn, hubby mows it and keeps it clean. Thats enough. Im lucky to not live on a street where people feel its a competition. All our lawns look about the same. I live in the country, so our lawns arent grass, its more like some grass mixed up with other stuff but hey, it looks green so Im happy Thanks for sharing and I hope the guy you live with will always at least mow it.

I can see doing what's reasonable to care for your lawn and I can see taking pride in it looking picture perfect, if you can get it that way without doing too much work. I don't see the point in stressing over it.

When I owned my own home I stressed a great deal making sure my lawn was perfectly cut and green. I did because I absolutely enjoyed watching my efforts before my own eyes. Plus to me it gave me a sense that I was caring for the earth. I did cut it once a week but also fertilize and watered it daily. I did not just cut, I trimmed and nicely cut the edges too.

Sounds like you were taking great pride in your lawn. My hubby might do that much but for now, since we arent allowed to water our lawns all the time, what he does is cut it, fertilize it and trim the edges of course. It looks clean but its not picture perfect though!! Good for you that you had a great looking lawn. Thanks!!

I think some people go a little crazy over things like this. Me, I just wish I had grass instead of a mix of grass and weeds and rocks. I have the worst lawn imaginable.lol so I don't care what color it is as long as I can have grass.

Well grass and weeds might not be so bad, but the rocks are though. Maybe you can get rid of the rocks for a start. Ive read somewhere that you can grow THYM so have a luscious, green lawn and not have to cut it......but Im not sure if its true or not. Some say Thym will even grow over rocks!! Thanks for sharing and I hope you do get some grass soon then.
