Will you endorse a product because of quality or because of big money out of it?

There are so many advertisements that we see on television. No question it somehow influence our choices to buy a product. I am just curious about these movie stars/models/endorsers point of view before they accept and offer to endorse a product. What are their basis? Is it because they believe in the quality of the product or the money they get out of it? If you are in the shoes of these people, what will be your basis to accept a product endorsement?

If I am a practical person and on the shoes of an endorser, I will definitely endorse a product because of the money involved. But to be true, that's a bad thing. Actually, I'd rather endorse a product because of its quality. By endorsing means you are suggesting something worth the money you paid for the customers. If you happen to just endorse because of the money involved then you might endorse a bad product and it may cause some troubles to the possible consumers. You are lying to the consumers while earning money. Knowing the trend today, I think majority of the endorsers (if not all) chose their products because of the big money involved. Between the endorser and product maker is a relationship called mutualism where they use each other for the benefits of each other. The wrong perception of the people mass is that a product has goo quality only with it has a known endorser. Hopefully, these consumers learn how to look more closely to the product's specifications rather than their endorsers. How about you, what's your take on that? :)

We have the same point of view regarding this matter. I had come up to an idea of this post when I remember one actress in our country who got a misunderstanding with her mother who is an actress also because she didn't want to do the commercial her mother wanted her to do basically because she didn't want to endorse a product she didn't have plan to use. For me, I do admire the daughter because she was true to herself and did not endorsed a product she didn't believed in.

Of course I do believe in Karma. It's really better if what you promote to the people is a good product and will improve their lives than harm them. Thanks ThrillerAssassin!

Who's that girl?Hehe..She did the right thing. You'll be happy with the money you'll earn for endorsing a bad product but people may get problems upon using it. Who knows, that might also come back to you. Do you believe in karma? :D

I think a product should be endorsed because of it's quality, not how much money was invested on it. There are a lot of products that are getting endorsed right now that aren't really competent to others. It's just that they were being endorsed by famous people.

I agree. Seeing those famous celebrities endorsing the product would definitely catch the people's attention, especially those that idolize these celebrities. I think these celebrities should be more aware of what they're endorsing and not just think of the money they're being paid of.

I'll go for the first option. People stay in business more because of what they give to people. If they offer quality products, for sure many will patronize them. This will give them a lot of money in return. Not only in business, in life we live by what we give to others and not just by what we get from other people.

Yup. The true test if we're offering quality products is whether we want to use it ourselves.

This is true wrangel! It's a vice versa situation. If I am the endorser I'll consider being in consumers shoes and think if what I endorse to them will make myself proud. That way I am not fooling anyone. Thanks!

I often wonder whether celebrities that endorse products actually use those products or not. I also wonder if they endorse for just the money, or because of the amount of money they are getting paid because of the influence they can have on customers to buy that product. You never know what you would actually do in a situation until you are actually faced with it. I personally would not like to endorse a product unless I believe in it and know that it isn't a scam or a waste of money. While I'm saying that now, you never if I had the opportunity and I was desperate for money what I would do. I would hope that I would still stick to my morals and reject the offer if I believe it isn't fair. I would accept a product endorsement if: 1) It's a product I've used before 2) It's a brand I like and can trust 3) The product works

Sorry, I meant "I also wonder if they endorse just for the money (because of they are getting paid a lot of money for the influence they have on customers to buy that product) or whether they genuinely like the product.

I got your point dear. If we are on their shoes, I hope we still stick on our morals even if we are out of money. It will not do us any good. Thanks for your opinion!

It really would really depend on how much money I really needed. If I had enough money, like I'm sure many of these celebrities do, I would be rather particular about what I attach my name to. After all, the product's quality is going to reflect on me, whether or not it is going to be badly or otherwise. That is really just the way things are. I'm sure many of the stars are picky but I'm sure many will attach their names to anything, as long as they get paid remotely well. So really if I needed the money, I might be a little less particular to say the very least. Still there would be some kind of decent quality to the product at many times for me to be all that comfortable with really stepping forward for a product that I would not really use. Then again, the famous really are going to do what they want to do and its all about the bottom line. They really do in fact sell out for a lot of things for sure.

I understand your point. So it depends if you need money or not. I guess you're mature enough to decide on things for yourself because in the end it's your name that will be accounted for what you endorsed. Anyway, whatever you choose you will be responsible for your actions so it doesn't really matter. We all have our own choices in life. What's important is we will be responsible for whatever consequences after that. Thanks!

Well, it's a job. Certainly if it were something that would have the ability to actually harm someone, I wouldn't do it. But otherwise, I'd take the job to earn income. I don't think you have to have a huge spiritual calling to stand behind Pepsi over Coke or whatever to take a job.

Hi RJlady! We'll if we are to choose between two popular and of good quality products there's no way we have to reject it. I'm certain that if these companies will be the one to offer me I will be much grateful and would never have second thoughts. But if I will be given a new product in which I haven't tried before, I guess I will be cautious enough to examine it. My credibility as an endorser is my priority. Otherwise I would lose the trust of many people. Thanks!

I don't see a product as being desirable just because some face from TV or Movies is associated with it...it's just another paycheck for them,IMO,and they may be getting a freebie out of it,too..Of course,I can be cynical about the subject as the Check isn't in MY name!

lol. You make me laugh wizteen! But it's your choice and I respect that. So you would endorse to people products you do not use at all and you haven't tested yet just for the sake of money? We'll I hope your product will not harm the people because if it's the case it will be your responsibility and the credibility of your name that is at stake here. We'll if you're broke enough to accept offers right away then go before it will be given to others. lol.

An endorser with a conscience would do it on the basis of quality. Oftentimes, the general public tend to think that products endorsed by famous people are going to work effectively. Endorsing for the sake of money is selfish, thoughtless, unfair and could be harmful. People would be spending money on products that should not even be bought.

I respect your opinion Olleenz but isn't it nice to endorse a product which is of good quality than just to promote it so that people will buy?

Which quality you talking about, quality in consumers perspective or manufacture perspective? That it's 2 different measurement. When company hired us to promote their product it mean they try to put their perspective into consumers mind but are you sure quality of product really good?

I give one example why I choose this option (take jobs for money): A lot of people say that product from Chinese had low quality. Nike, for example, had a lot of product made in China but people still love to buy their product. In my opinion, this is not because their product really good but the real fact is the company (Nike) succeed to put their product quality in consumers perspective.

if ever i will be given a chance to endorse a product i will only endorse the products that i had tested. but of course being and endorsement involve a big amount of money which most endorser can't declined such offer. they endorse the product but they won't use it. becuase they rather use imported products than the local one which they are endorsing.

I am really wondering if they use their own products, as we have seen they have very beautiful skin for example. I wonder if they tested their product first before accepting it. We'll anyway, it's their own decision and they must be responsible for their actions whatever outcome of it. Thanks meriel! Happy mylotting!

Well it would have to be great quality, because i would feel like its a lie, I cant lie, not only is it wrong but i suck at it. I mean i turn red, look left , laugh everything. Pretty comedic, and you'd think id be good at it since im an actor, but i really cant. But i would hope that the people selling theses things would have a sound product. I wouldnt endorse a face cream that says it'd do something great if i never tried it. Of course we do that with commercials, you eat a burger and you say its Sooooo good, even though you don't like it, but your CHARACTER does. But, when it YOURSELF, using YOUR name and saying i had this problem and this product fixed it, even when it didnt or you didnt try it, then i believe that is wrong. Fine line but it makes the difference. A character and yourself(actor), is like in a tv show, you play the villain and the villain kills somebody. You, yourself, never killed anyone in real life but your character did, so you are not like your character in that aspect. Or say your character likes ice-cream, the actor hates it, because he's lactose, but in that commercial the character is endorsing the product of ice-cream, while, you, the actor throw up backstage. Ugly analogy but it makes my point.

Definitely I'll endorse the product I really patronize.. You can convince others but who are you fooling? It is yourself. Celebrity endorsers should be true to themselves. If they don't like the product but they need it to earn much money, well, learn to love the product.. :)
