Has blogging been worth YOUR EFFORTS?

In my recent searches on making decisions i read up on some suggestions. One suggestion was to ask others how a decision that you are about to make (that someone else has made as well) worked out for them. I'm trying to figure out if I would like to spend 3 hrs a day for two years working on a blog/s. That is a lot of time, energy, and effort. My family is supportive of my goals and we are would be able to make it financially if I devoted my time to such an endeavor. SO my question to all you bloggers-has it really been worth it for you? Has all your hard work paid off? Would you do it all over again? Would you recommend it to others or encourage them to work at something else? Thanks for all your experiences!

That is great that they were able to make that much. Don't be embarrassed by your earnings at least you earned right! There are many people who have worked at their blog for ten hours a week for months and only made a few cents. So don't be discouraged I think we all start there especially when we aren't known by a huge audience.

I am a lazy person, and I won't spend that much time to work on a blog for 2 years. But on some websites, as their requirements, I would definitely work on some blogs to make some extra money for myself too. It is boring, but at least I can make some money from it. Money, that is the biggest issue for all of us working here, don't we? We want more and more money, so we come to mylot and other earning opportunities.

I agree that it would be nice to earn money blogging. It would probably get boring blogging for other people because they have a particular niche they want you to work with. But like you said we all have a hard time with earning money. So as long as they pay we can be happy that we are able to earn. Thanks so much.

ANY project with that amount of dedication will be worth it, especially if you put in some research time at the start to define goals and all that other stuff. Whether it'd be enough to support a family, I don't know - I suspect JUST the blog wouldn't be, but most bloggers produce up-sell and cross-sell products (like books and DIY courses and stuff) to supplement their income. I've had my blog running for a couple of years now and definitely don't put in that much effort - but then it's not designed to make money. It's been worth it for me on several fronts: the pleasure of writing it and finding a couple of clients through it are foremost, with other stuff like seeing regular traffic and learning a lot close behind. My advice would be to sort out a plan before you start. As I already said, ANY project with that much dedication is likely to succeed, especially if you know where you're going and have a very, very clear idea of what you want to do.

Thank You for sharing your personal experience blogging with me. That is great that you are enjoying your blog and the results that you wanted to get out of it. You mentioned you have had your blog for a couple years that is encouraging. I've learned that when we start a blog we have to be careful not to get discouraged and give up because money, nor results will be pouring in overnight. That it takes time to see results. It's motivating to me to hear bloggers like yourself who have been blogging for sometime and are happy about it. You also mentioned bloggers producing up-sell and cross-sell products that would be really neat to do. I guess being a blogger really can entail many different avenues if a person is able to take advantage of them.

It all depends on what you want to achieve with it. If you want it to turn into a full-time income you're going to need to do a LOT of research before you start and be very dedicated. If it's for other reasons, you can get away with being a little lax at times, like me.

I have had some success with my blog even though I don't really put a lot of effort into it, I mainly link to my articles and I have gotten a little bit of traffic from them.

Hello there! On blogging, I wish I could collect my thoughts well so that I could start my own blogsite. That is one of the reasons why I like it here in mylot. I got to share my thoughts on some things while earning. If you really like and can write, I suggest that you blog. 3hrs a day isn't that much I think. I spend more than 8hours online a day! If you blog, don't think of earnings first. Think that you can share and posts. I think it will be worth it in time. Go for it!

I have read many different articles about blogging. The thought that you mentioned about thinking of my blogging as sharing and posting will be an essential key in keeping me motivated. I think if i think of the money aspect I will be greatly discouraged because it takes so much time to really earn and get things going. If you really would like to blog don't give up on it. You can do it if you put your mind to it!

Blogging has taught me about management. I have not made much money from it but the lessons I have learned I believe to be priceless. It is definitely not fro everyone and right now I do not think it is for me but it has it's benefits.

Blogging is like planting a tree, it won't bear its fruits instantly, you need some time to water it so that it will grow big as a fruit bearing tree. And blogging is like planting a tree, just enjoy for now... keep on blogging... http://www.simplifiedblogging.com (not a referral link)

It would honestly depend upon what you want from a blog. If you're just looking at the financial side of things, then I wouldn't say that my blog is good enough for me, however I wanted to create a helpful community for people who are trying to lose weight, and I like to think that I have managed to do that so far. My traffic is slowly increasing every day, but I am yet to make more than about two pennies in one day from it. That being said, I really didn't go into it for the income so it doesn't matter at all.

Blogging will be effective in earning money provided it has a very good traffic and for it the content of your blog should be unique, otherwise it is of no use to waste time in blogging.

Blogging is all about enjoying what you share, if you truly enjoy the things that you put in your blog, it won't sound and feel much like a job. If your priority is to earn through blogs, then you'd feel the pressure. What I can suggest to do is to create a blog that you enjoy, for me, spending 3 to 4 hours writing in my blog is the most relaxing moment of my day. After I go home, I sit down in front of my computer, open blogger and start blogging away. I treat my earnings as a bonus for doing something that I truly like. If you approach blogging this way, you will like it.
