No 1 ranking in tests would change soon

Another terrible performance by India against England in the second test. India won the toss and bowlers took quick wickets and England were struggling at 128-8 in the first innings. From here the game changed into England favour and later India never came back in the game and lost the second test. In my view even though Gambhir, Sehwag and Zaheer come back to team for the third test will not make any difference to India team winning the remaining two tests. Why I saying this because Sehwag will come into team without any match practice and there is no 100% guarantee that Sehwag will play with his flare. Gambhir can change the situation but he is not a match winner like Dravid, Laxman or Sachin in test cricket. Whatever the whether too must be fine and in the remain two tests pitch must be helpful to bowlers as well batsmen. IF a flat track is created then a draw will be enough for India to lose the series. So, India will lose the Number 1 ranking in tests and I do not think they can fight back in this series. What are your thoughts friends..

Nope i don't think india will drop down from 1st spot this is game some time one team loss or win it is not possible to win all the games. I'm not deceive much the performance that the indian team had gave till now because i know this defeat will make india firm and they will give a better reply in remaining two games and will shut the mouth of every one. BEST OF LUCK FOR INDIAN TEAM

Yes, i agree with you.India do not look as a number 1 team anymore after their miserable performance in the two tests.Even skipper Dhoni is not the same dynamic person he was before. He looks listless, bereft of ideas and his string of poor scores seems to be affecting his overall performance. There is no consistency in the players and we now see the all too familiar batting collapses whether it is by the top 5 or the tailenders.Of course we have been handicapped by the absence and fitness of some players but there is no fighting spirit demonstrated by those who are in the playing squad.England have outplayed India in all forms of the game whether it is batting, bowling, fielding etc. Even Sehwag, Gambhir or Zaheer Khan`s return will not make much of a difference and it is going to be an uphill task for India to win the remaining 2 tests and keep their top ranking intact.

Well veejay, the problem with our selection policy is that we treat players bigger than cricket. When Zaheer and Gambhir were injured in IPL and after recovering from those injuries, why did they qualify straight away to play for Indian test team without playing domestic cricket in India. Zaheer became liability in the first test and in second he is not fit.Why big players are hurried up even though they did not recover from their injuries. Dhoni is giving excuses like we are playing too much cricket, etc. He should agree that England was better team in this series and they are well prepared instead of saying we played too much cricket. Well England too has played a series against Sri Lanka and playing this test series with India. Dhoni is not improving his batting and he is more focused on other issues rather than he contributing some runs with bat. In my view Rohit Sharma is having better batting skills to that of Yuvaraj Singh or Raina in test cricket. But selectors keep on dropping him for tests and select him for ODI series. Let Sehwag, Zaheer, etc recover from their injuries completely and play some matches in Ranji trophy and come back to national side. Instead of hurrying them and ignoring players like Tyagi, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, etc.

If England win by two matches then they go ahead of India as number 1 team in the world. That makes the equation very simple. England has to at least draw the remaining two matches to become the number 1 team in the world. Of course, given the big wins that England has so far in the series. It looks like they will do a complete series sweep until India can pull a rabbit out of the hat. Cheers! Ram

Yes it can be possible if Indian team lost their 3rd test then England can get number one position in test cricket. But all of us hope it will not happen and now Indian team comes back because they want to give answers to England. We hope again that our bowler will perform well and also every player gives his best in this match. But situations are not in our hand.

the entire debate of world number 1 team is a real joke.i mean who cares the number one title trust me i dont think msd realy cares that spot at all. as long india wins the match and draws the serios i am sure dhoni will not mind. beacuse anyway srilanka or australia will soon take that title back as they are due to play a series. icc has any decided to have test championship that will really justify who the number one test team in world. i mean the real test would if a australia plays england or a south africa in ground like chennai under hot and himund condition who ever plays thre and wins are the true champs and that applies for the other teams as well. playing a test in neutral venues will decide who is the number 1 test team.
