You know...that's a great question! I myself have a microwave, but wishing i had a toaster oven. I think with a toaster oven, you have more options. You can heat a pizza and get both crunchy crust & melted cheese. You can bake a potato in both units...so i think it pretty much comes down to your personal preference. Weigh the pros and cons. in general...I think most people have a microwave because of the speed of cooking. good luck!

i will have microwave oven anytime over over toaster. it is one of the great inventions of the century. living in a condo, it is very valuable and indispensable. it makes magic in cooking. it is fast in reheating. with the most of the dishes now in pre-heat package, the microwave oven is a gift for us.

If I had to choose between the two, I would pick a microwave. I don't use our toaster oven very often, but I constantly use a microwave. The microwave is usually much quicker, since it doesn't have to be preheated. Also, if you have a regular oven, then you can always set it to "broil" and get the same effect of the toaster oven.

it depends what you want it for. i was given a toaster oven but never used it. if i want it toasted, i use the oven or a toaster. i use my microwave every day for defrosting, reheating or cooking (stuff like baked potatoes.)

I think perhaps the microwave oven will be much more suitable for you. Since it seems you don't have a big kitchen. So if there is a machine which can deal everything should suit you. A microwave oven can cook the food in a short time. And it can cook different food, such as the meats and vegetables. So it is better than the oven toaster. I love China

Such a question truly depends on the person. Do you do alot of cooking in the microwave? If you get a toaster oven will it be a smaller oven or a larger one w/ a convection feature so you can make more things beyond toast, bagels ect... as I use mine to bake bread, meatloaf, porkchops, chicken ect..

Hi, Philippe75. In my opinion using both would be fine to have. Ideally, the microwave oven would probably be most useful though. You can cook frozen and non frozen foods in a microwave oven. A toaster oven is just better for baking or making a toast.

If you are moving into a condo and have minimal space in the kitchen, If you just heat your food a lot then by all means a microwave. You can always hide your toaster in a cabinet so its not out on the counter unless using. I do this with my toaster and I realize how little I do use it. But if you cook a lot and don't want to heat up your oven to your stove, have you considered a convection/toaster oven? I bought one last winter and have not ever regretted it. It bakes, broils, and toasts. Depending on which kind you get mine has settings in it already for a baked potato, pizza, cookies etc. It does not make your kitchen hot and as there is basically only 2 of us at home now I can make the proper portion and not have to use the 220 oven as this is run on 110. I plan on getting an RV and I don't feel comfortable with using the gas oven plus they are not that big anyway. Do some research on convection/toaster ovens. It may give you the best of both worlds that you are looking for. I use my microwave for heating water for my tea if I don't want the pot brewing, and some of the frozen veggies, or warming up leftovers. When my oven went out one time I actually learned how to cook whole meals in the microwave. Its a learning experience but it can be done. Happy shopping to you!

I like to have both, a microwave and a toaster. A toaster can help me to bake cake, meat and so on. A microwave will be convenient for me to heat and keep my foods warm. Whatever the toaster can do, the microwave oven can not make it. For instance, a microwave oven can not kill the bacterias when we try to cook the raw foods or to boil the water. I do have a microwave at home. But I seldom use it. All of the while, I use stove to cook or to heat my foods. I get used to this method in many years ago.

I think that depends on what you usually eat. Microwave ovens can heat up more things than a toaster oven, but toaster ovens usually retain the flavor more. Also, toaster ovens are better for actually cooking something. I've never cooked anything in a microwave, only reheat or defrost. For something like reheating pizza or chicken, I'd rather use a toaster oven. Personally, I couldn't choose just one, I must have both a microwave oven and a toaster oven
