how to choose laptops

Laptops today are much more powerful, both complex and simple:complex because can perform much better and simple because it is very easy to use than even the best desktop computers of past. Computers with different style and also very light are in the market today. As there exists wide options of laptops and computers, it is important that the buyers know which to choose and which not to choose. Lets discuss what features are to be considered while buying a laptop or computer.
Some of the most important features are the RAM, Hard disk, graphics. RAM(random access memory) must be high enough that the speed of laptop is good. Higher the RAM, better will be the performance of the laptop. Hard disk is the storage space. We can also use external hard drives to store and connect to our laptops as and when required.
What are others features?

In my opinion, the most important aspects of a laptop are price, speed and battery life. If you can find somewhere (like online) to get a laptop at a good price, then you may consider this finding. Hopefully you can find one that is high quality but costs less than $1000. The speed also matters because we do not want to waste our precious time. I find that battery life is not necessarily the most important for me because I can usually keep the laptop plugged in to an outlet, but it still is an aspect to consider. If I need to work on something for a long car ride or during a lecture then I would want to have battery power that can last for hours so I do not have to buy a $100 battery. Newer laptops are designed very well and may offer more features than people would use.

I think System speed or the system throughput depends up on the RAM(Random Access Memory) So we must always go for higher RAM if we wanna use system for playing games, and running applications related to annimation, graphics and all.
One think we should not forget is the Bluetooth capability as it can let us share information wirelessly with other devices having bluetooth facilities such as cell phones or digital camera etc.

With my laptops, the most important thing for me is battery life as I tend to need to use them for hours at a time away from a charging station. Because of that, I chose to purchase a MacBook Pro, as I had heard that their battery can last for up to 11 hours on one charge. I was not disappointed, and can confirm that mine does indeed live up to these expectations. It is also very fast, which is important for me as it means that I can get all of my work done quicker which in turn means that I can spend more time with my family.

11 hours! That is surprisingly great. Well mine is dell vostro and battery life is just four hours and now laptop is almost three years old and battery is now lasting for about 2 hours.
I think we must also check to see if the laptop has a DVD burner. That makes backing up documents, music files and pictures a snap becuase of the high capacity of the discs.

Hi~ tenrajj.Everybody needs laptop for working and entertainment.On my opinion battery is also important.How do I judge the battery which is good or bad.During the trip most people will still use it.

Yes you added a good point. Battery is really important and we must go for excellent battery life. What about look and feel. We must pick up the laptops at the store and choose one that feels sturdy, solidi and not too heavy. We always prefer a lighter ones as it is easy to carry therefore improving the portability.
The keyboard of the laptops can't usually be replaced. IT is therefore important that we test and check keyboard. We must make sure that we are comfortable with its touch and responsiveness. We must also make sure that we are comfortable with it both on lap and desk.

I bought my laptop so I could have my own computer, and for what I use it for, mainly writing reviews, it's good for that, and I play some game on it, but a lot of the newer games need specs that my computer doesn't have so I'm going to buy s PS3 so I can play videogames.

Yea even I bought a laptop two years back and I bought it mainly for doing computer programs as I am doing Computer science and engineering. But instead of doing computer programs, i land up in playing games, surfing net and watching movies on my laptop. But one think, laptop is my best friend. It keeps me happy when i am sad. Listening to sweets songs makes me happy. Watching movies gives me lots of pleasures and inspirattion. Chatting with friends and family keeps me connected.

Well selecting a laptop depends on ones individual need. With the features as discussed by you, I would like to consider the following too:
Motherboard, CD/DVD player, USB ports, Multi country adaptor, Free softwares, Operating System software which comes with laptop, Brand, After sales Service, Free Service and Look and feel

Yes you are very right. We must choose good brand and one thing i found useful me was the after sales service. I am currently having Dell laptop and a line started appearing horizontally in my LCD after few months I bought and I called DELL customer service explaining the problem. Within few days an engineer came and replaced my LCD. That was really a great service.
And one more thing we should not forget is number of USB ports. We must go for at least two USB connections and at least one Fire wire connection. They are very popular and fast ways for connecting ipods, digital cameras, mobile phones and many more digital devices.

That is short, sweet and delicious. Almost every thing you have included but in very brief. Adding some more features i think it is important to choose correct screen size and resolution. It is also important feature that we must consider. Current liquid crystal display(LCD) screens on laptops measure from 13 to 21 inches diagonally and screen resolution may be as low as 800x600 pixels or as high as 1600x1200pixels. The more pixels, the crisper the screen image. I think we need to think about the graphics too. Higher the graphics will give better print which we specially find necessary while watching movies, playing games etc..

One of the most important things that I do with my computer is to do my scrapbooking and for that reason, I am constantly pulling pictures from the compact flash cards and secure digital cards that belong in my cameras. For that reason, a very important feature for me is to have a built in card reader. Also, in today's world of WiFi access, it is also very important to have an internal wireless networking card.

I'm not into laptop but I bought one for myself few years back. The only advantage of it is it's portability. You can do your task with the use of it while you are in a coffee shop, in the field or anywhere. I prefer desktop so I can use the big screen and attached lot of accessories.
