If you don't go messing around with stuff beyond the user level, MS and Mac (and Linux and anything else) are pretty much the same these days. Just about everything's done through a browser (or a UI based on one), so it makes no difference. The main advantage of Windows is the ability to get at it down to a deeper level (and Linux even further). If that's of no interest to you, get a Mac. Unless you enjoy gaming, of course, since almost no one produces Mac games - you'll have to rely on an emulator for that, at a guess.

By deeper level on Windows, I assume you mean when the hard disk is buzzing nicely with it's LED flashing madly, and NOTHING visible is happening! At least on Linux, I know what is going on! Linux runs on Macs too!

*yawn* Been there, done that, worn the t-shirt, read the book, heard all the rants. There are plenty of tools that will show you what ANY OS is doing at any given time. Each OS has its use. None is "better" than another, except by individual taste. Anyone who says otherwise is either a fanboy or has a problem. Basically, as I already said, it comes down to what level of technical knowledge you want to handle. From none to most, Mac - Windows - Linux (or FreeBSD, Ubuntu, Debian, etc.)

I'm neither! I am a Linux user. There isn't a defense for Windows. I could say a lot about Microsoft but none of it would be nice!
