looting the public

In the ancient days the kings and emperors treated their subjects [ordinary people] as slaves and looted their money by imposing tax. In the ancient days the people were not educated and that is why the kings and emperors were able to loot the public and were able to make them slaves. Now-a- days all most all are educated and the present generation is highly intelligent, even then the politicians are looting the public and the politicians are keeping their black money in Swiss banks. The law is sleeping, the law enforcement authorities are sleeping [or the law enforcement authorities are threatened] and the public are forced to be a silent spectators. My question is whether this will continue for ever or will it have an end?

As long as human beings are in power, there will be power hungry ones who will enslave the populations for their own benefit. This might come as a monarchy, where one person is in power (supposedly) or as Communism or Socialism where a group is in power. Or in a republic, where a group has enough power and lack of morals to force its philosophy onto others. There will never be an end to power hungry people as long as humans are in control of anything.

I think this depends on how the people vote or bring people to power. If people were to choose wisely and not vote for a corrupt official (although this is hard to do) and if the one that they voted has the political will for a change, then this would make a difference but I doubt it will end at all. As long as people have the nature to be greedy, then this cycle will just continue. Even if people are educated, there will always be loopholes in the society and the established law that smarter politicians can always get into.
