Cuba seems like an interesting country because it has the capital city called Havana and it has tropical beaches. It has a railway and that is unusual in the Caribbean Islands. My brother-in-law has some relatives living near Ottawa in Canada and they love it in Cuba. Cuba would be a 10 hour flight from my home country.
Have you ever been to Cuba?
If not are you keen on going there?
What would be there to interest you?

Never been to Cuba and never will want to go to Cuba. It is run by a communist party and a very poor place. There is nothing there that I would want to see. Before Castro took over it may have been a nice place but not for a long time now. I wonder what your brother-in-law loves about it. I seriously think its a dangerous place to visit or live, in my opinion.

I live in Europe and visited Hungary when it was in its last year of being a communist country. Then they lifted the Iron curtain which was lovely for the countries in Eastern Europe. Russia is still a communist country yet many people love destinations like Moscow and St Petersburg.
Poor destinations can be quite cheap to visit for accommodation and food. The money spent can help the local people. Cuba is meant to have some lovely looking old buildings so it might be a cultural treat. My brother-in-laws relatives like the tropical beaches.

For Americans I am not sure Cuba is the best place but from what I have seen the country is starting to change for the good and less and less socialism and more democratic and safe. I think Cuba has such an amazing history and even better food. II have a dream of visiting Cuba one day
