DISCLAIMER-Friends, I share what I get, with the hope, some will be cured at least, it is rightly said, the wearer knows, where the shoe pinches. You may try this, if it helps, tell others. BUT PLEASE CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR AND TAKE YOUR OWN DECISION. The sweet potato leaves are rich in Vitamin A (ideal for skin care!), fiber, and micro nutrients. They’re healthy for the blood. If your blood lacks redness, or if you have low-blood pressure, make sweet potato leaves a regular salad side dish. If you often lack sleep, eat them often. They’re also so good for remedying constipation. It is quite rare to find an edible food, derived from plants, which is of high food value, edible from its tubers, stems, buds and leaves needs comparatively little care while growing, matures quickly, high food productivity per square feet space, easy to store, and have a quite palatable taste. This description fits the sweet potato. Do not underestimate the 'cheap' sweet potato leaves because many farmers discard them after harvesting the tubers. You want to lose weight? The leaves of sweet potato are ideal. And it’s cheap. Overall, people in Asia with weak bodies and ill health are encouraged to often eat this herbal veggie. It improves health in many ways. Modernization and the convenience of city life have nearly pushed the sweet potato leaves, into the attic to collect dust while many medical practitioners collect money from disease sufferers who could be better off just putting sweet potato leaves into their regular diet. Sweet potato leaves can generate a nice smoothie or greens juice for your alkalization needs. Without you having to sacrifice spending on other things because it is very affordable and yet does not compromise your health. For therapeutic purposes, it is recommended that you take the raw green juice of sweet potato leaves. The best way to ingest the goodness of sweet potato leaves is to take the juice/smooth of the raw sweet potato leaves, so that you get the action of the chlorophyll and all the other goodness on your body. Just use any blender which can turn the leaves into pulp. 1) If you use only leaves, blending will turn them into a smoothie. You will find that blended leaves have a gummy texture, somewhat like blended bananas. This smoothie is not too hard to drink. For a savory taste, just add lemon or lime before blending; you can also top it up with blackstrap molasses. 2) If you use the leaves and stalks , the smoothie is not as smooth not as palatable too; because your tongue can feel the fiber and your throat does not feel okay. However, if you need only the filtered juice, just put everything in, leaves + leaf stalks. Filter the blended pulp and drink immediately. Because the raw greens are especially potent in its therapeutic effect if you used them within 1-2 days after purchase from the market. Later than 1-2 days (even with cool storage in the fridge), the potency can drastically be reduced. If you have a garden, organically grown is the best. Hope, you will find this ‘cure tip’ beneficial Please share and comment. Thanks in advance. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

Nearly all greens are high in vitamins A and C and beneficial minerals. Sweet potato leaves, of course, are no exception and, where they are abundantly available for free, it makes sense to use them. It is worthwhile, however, to compare them with other salad greens, such as lettuce. Using the site http://nutritiondata.self.com/ it is quite easy to do. It turns out that, weight for weight, lettuce contains 8 times as much vitamin A, more than twice as much vitamin C and about the same Calcium and Iron as sweet potato leaves, while raw spinach contains nearly 9 times as much vitamin A, about 3 times as much vitamin C and twice as much Calcium and Iron. Of course, this is not the whole story. There are many other things beside the ones mentioned: many trace elements and complex biochemical products, such as enzymes and flavonids, may exist in one substance and not in another, which may make a particular plant more valuable than another. Like all leaf greens, sweet potato leaves have a high dietary fibre content (so work just about as well as any other leaf green in combating constipation). Being a fairly good source of iron, they are also helpful in combating anaemia.

Hi prof. No need for the warning. Camote tops are part of our diet since not only it is cheap and rich in vitamins, this plant is also very easy to grow. What is needed is just some soil and you can leave this plant on its own to grow. Not only that, it's also delicious and easy to cook.

I don't care for sweet potatoes. I will eat other orange vegetables but not that one. A sweet potatoe smoothie? Yuck! Gaggy. I have gotten to where I can eat summer squash but like acorn better. Something about the texture. I will have to get that Vitamin somewhere else!

Maybe why my skin is always very clear. lol I am going to have to check around here where to find them in leaves. As always I emailed this to myself and will be trying this out as I am anemic and also have low blood pressure. This is helpful. Have a great night.

here in my country; the Philippines; we eat the leaves of the sweet potato. we make it into a salad by boiling it for a couple of seconds in water then we add ginger, onions, tomato, vinegar and cream of the coconut milk then season it with salt and pepper. its very delicious and very nutritious. we don't throw away the water used to boil the potato leaves which is still colored green after boiling.we set it aside and allow to cool then we add the juice of a lemon to it and the green water turns into a beautiful color of pink then we add brown sugar to sweeten it a bit and drink it as a very refreshing juice.

hi prof, I regularly eat sweet potato leaves that's why I believe you , by God's grace I have not been sick for a long time. In the Philippines we call them " kamote tops" tops because we only eat the young leaves. This is the way we do it, boil water and when boiling we put all the tops on the water and turn off the fire, cover, and that's it, finish, drain the water and eat the tops with a pinch of rock salt. Just be careful to wash tops properly in running water so it does not contain amoeba or parasites blanching would not kill sometimes. I have a my own sweet potato garden at home, very fast to grow in our country, it's also one of the cheapest food.

Professor, you have given great information here. In Konkan region, that is the coastal strip of Maharashtra, people eat a sort of dry preparation made of sweet potato leaves. Green chillies and fresh coconut are added to these leaves and sauteed in oil to make a nice recipe, its very tasty too. I guess, the rural folks are much more aware of healthy benefits of so many vegetables that we city folk tend to ignore, for alas, we have tasted the sinful morsels of delicious cakes and pastries and burgers and fries! :)

I believe you Professor Bhuwan. I love eating the leaves and believe its health benefits and because of your post I am going to love it more because you have expounded how truly beneficial it is. I blanch it in hot water and dip it in apple cider vinegar and eat it straight with all the other meals. I can get fresh ones from y mother's. I would definitely try blending the green leaves. Thank you for the post.
