There are religious places both in the North and in the South. People are more religious in the south when compared to the North Indians. It is not that they do not believe in god but South Indians pose a prominent place for religion. That is why it is believed that there are more religious places in the southern part of India than the other parts. India is believed to be a piece of divine land so there is no point in debating which place has more temples and mosques. Happy mylotting.

If you just talk about temples there are lots lots temples all across india. But most religious places, I think, are in Utterakhand and Utterpradesh. As you see mythology everytime god was born in UP. Bhuwneshwer (Orrisa) also called city of temples. I don't know much about south india.
