Did you hear about the U.S. Marine who threw a puppy off a cliff?

I was appalled as my boyfriend told me this story last night. Apparently, a Marine that was on deployment in the Middle East threw a puppy over a cliff and put a video on YouTube. He claims that the puppy was ill and they didn't have medicine for it and he didn't want to shoot it and he was feeling "creative" that day. I highly doubt that he's telling the truth. Even if the dog was sick and going to die a slow death, the humane thing to do would've been to shoot it and kill it instantly..not throw it off a cliff where it was terrified until it hit the bottom. I think this story is just a cover up and he was just being downright cruel. And to make a video about it? That's definitely not something you do while getting rid of a sick puppy. And why didn't any of the other Marines do anything to stop him? It just sickens me. Luckily, that Marine was dishonorable discharged and spent about a month in jail for animal cruelty. In my opinion, that's not enough time but at least he was dishonorably discharged..that will follow him for the rest of his life.

I think that dealing with a sick puppy doesn't call for being creative. I think it should have been dealt with humanely. If it needed to be put down, he should have just done it quietly. No need to make a video about it. And no need to put it online. Marine or not, it wasn't the right thing to do.
