Underwear that helps burn fat?

United States

I can now say that I have heard it all! Apparenlty there is now (only available in Japan at the current time)underwear that when worn can help one burn extra calories! The underwear is made with a non-elastic material and also painted with a resin making it harder to walk or go up stairs, thus an increased calorie burn. Supposedly several hundred calories per week. The underwear sell for the equivalent of $38 US dollard per pair. What are your thoughts?!?

Not much different than those wraps that sweat it off. I would find them so uncomfortable. I would rather do some real exercise. I know that the shoes for toning do not necessarily make you lose weight, but they do improve posture and strengthen your core if worn while working out. Of course there is also workout wear that is supposed to do the same. Hey!!!! I have an idea, I will put wrist weights on my wrists and teeny tiny weights on each finger to make it harder to type fast so that I will lose weight.

Of course if the finger weights could be gold and precious stones that would be better. I do sometimes wear ankle weights at the desk. Lifting them makes my knees stronger.

Now you know, you could have something there Gerty!!! You should market it, there would definitely be some who would be willing to try it. I would be far more willing to try your teeny tiny weights on my fingers and wrist weights when I type than to wear hot, tight, uncomfortable underwear! Plus, I could stay seated!! Ha!

My husband heard about it on the radio. He says that if you walk 90 minutes a week it burns an extra 220 calories, which isn't much.

It doesn't seem worth it to me given the cost of the underwear! There surely should be cheaper ways to burn that few calories!

Is that washable or do you need to wear that over and over? The price also looks a bit high so one could not possibly own many of those. I also wonder about the discomfort that it offers.

The information I heard was on the radio and whether or not the garment is washable wasn't mentioned. I can't imagine how hot and uncomfortable it must be! I would rather just use the steps a few more times at work or something to burn that few extra calories!

is this for real? Quite expensive. I think exercise and healthy diet is still the best way if you want to burn fat.

I agree with you 100%, the best way to burn fat is to eat less (and healthy) and exercise more. It is tried and true. All of these fad ideas are just that...fads!

I guess that even if it could really burn so much calories I still won't want to use it due to the discomfort. And it might be really hot. Must be good for those who can tolerate it. For me, I would just settle for other weight loss plans than this one.

Sounds amusing though. But I don't think I would wear such to lose some calories. I would rather walk a little extra rather than wear something uncomfortable underneath. It might also give me some infection. ugh. I hope not though for those who got it already. . It is just so weird.

Wow. I haven't heard of this before. Sounds cool since I'm looking to burn some calories off of me. I'd like to have one. Can't wait for it to be available here.

Japan has always something new. How does it work? I doubt it. I think only the part down there will burn calories. :) I think it's uncomfortable. It must be hot.

This is so interesting. It definetely a good news for girls who are on diet. They have a better alternative to lose weight.

it's hard to believe. How many really overweighted people tested that unerwear? What is the difference between wearing those pants and carrying 20 pounds of overweight or a bag potatoes with you? I also don't believe you will loose several hundred calories (how much is several?) a week. Unless the pants makes it hard to do the shopping or to eat. But even if I am sick for 6 weeks and can't eat at all I never lost one single pound :-(
