Early In, Early Out or Late In, Late Out?

Working in BPO may usually mean that we work at night time. This is because we’re following the time zones of those countries we supported. More often than not, supported countries are US, Canada, UK. So with these time differences and schedule stuff, do you prefer to have the early night schedule so you can go home early in the morning, or get the late night schedule and go out before or around noon time? For me, I prefer the early night schedule, say 8pm and then be out of the office at 5am. It’s more convenient for me. I just feel like time moves faster if I work early at night. And if I’ll be out early at last shift before my off/weekends, with this schedule, I can go home and sleep early then wake up at noon allowing me to still spend the first night of my off with some activities or quality time with family. LOL. You guys, what schedule do you prefer and why you like that schedule? Share your thoughts…

I hate the grave yard shift. There are others who say they do but the dark circles around their eyes says their body don't. nothing beats the day shift, although you just have to live with the daily traffic but then it's one of the things that you can tell yourself that you're normal .

two and a half months is a long time. The longest I had was two weeks and it's killing me. There were times that I'm dreaming and come up with answers god knows where they came from much to the surprise of the person on the other line. I also experienced dreaming while standing up and realized later when I woke up how stupid I was. But I had colleagues who even requested for a permanent GY shift and they really liked it but then again the black circles in the eyes says it all. It's really like you're a zombie or a vampire, when your shift ends you feel dehydrated, you have a very oily face and even the sun's ray seems to hurt and good luck if you ride the MRT or LRT and don't sit down and your feet just wobble as you drift off to sleep. Let's just hope that you live in house where there's no noisy kids or neighbors around so you can finally have a good dreamless sleep.

I agree with you, I hate the night shift too, but I think that's the schedule that works for me as of the moment. I think I've been in the night shift for too long I can't even remember, but sometimes, I have to get the morning shift for a month or couple of months before I die and turned into a walking zombie and eat all the a*holes at the office.

@ bing, I would rather keep the memories of GY shift and smile of all the funny things that happens when you fight sleep with coffees and if possible stick in the eyelids just to stay awake rather than go through that bloody experience again. If you don't have a choice then better design a air conditioned room that's sound proof. I could very well trade that night differential for a good night's sleep. How much is it now? 10%? @january, how's the circle around the eyes? I hope you won't start biting those around you and sipping all their blood dry. Don't forget those vitamins, it helps prevent you from becoming a zombie.

Hi Hatley. So with this kind of schedule, you still have time to do other stuff before and after work. Nice.
