Why do people litter public places :(

I also litter in public places. It's because it's easier than finding a public trash bin to throw my trash to. It's too simple to just throw it wherever there are trash around because you won't get blamed because there are a lot of trash lying around where you can throw yours.

i have never understood this myself.. what is the point in it, when you can just throw it in the garbage can / dumpster ,, people are just lazy. makes the town look very trashy and gross. and in my city no one cleans it up it just sits there.. until someone themselves pick them up.. It ridiculous

Hi stary1, such disgusting situation of throwing litter from car window happens every now and then in my place. I wonder why they never feel shame at all, doing such undesirable act to the eye on the road. I think those are selfish culprits and doing the dumping of rubbish randomly just for their own convenience and never bother that they actually have contaminated the clean environment. Parents should breed their young since their childhood to love and take care of the environment of the planet, no matter wherever and whenever they are Not only to keep our own house compound clean and neat we have to keep all the public area to look decent as well. Public area is not a vast garbage where we are allowed to dump rubbish conveniently. If rubbish can is not available keep them in the plastic bag first until any bin is seen later. If everyone follows strict to the discipline then could keep the environment clean and healthy all the time. Happy posting

Some people are just slobs & enjoy being that way.

Because they are lazy and do not care how places look. They let trash drop from whatever they are using, eating or manipulating. They don't care that it takes tax money to clean it up. In alot of cases I don't think they even realize what a mess they are doing nor do they care.

There are really many disagreeable guys. I was also one of them. The best way is that we tell ourselves not to do this. When everyone realize this, it will be much better.

Nastiness breeds nastiness. People who often litter in public places are just nasty people. A clean person just does not throw dirt around, especially when there is a trashcan within view.

I think people throw stuff out of the car window because they don't want to leave it in the car! That's just lazy! My daughter told me about a car parked at my husbands convenience store that cleaned out their car onto the parking lot when just a few steps away was a big trash can they could have used! People are funny.

They do it for any number of reasons. Laziness, poor upbringing, lack of community responsiblity, lack of awareness of environmental issues and most often, lack of government laws. Where littering is endemic, the government need to bring in strict laws, where peole receive a hefty fine. Possibly the guilty could be made to go and pick up,litter, over a large area.

ive wondered about this for years. yes, they are likely pigs at home also. back in the '70s I stopped this practice myself, because i was married to a veitnam vet that would get very angry about it. he said, ive fought for this country and how can people disrespect it like that, and not care how it looks? ive felt the same way.

Actually, they won't even care about it. Some people actually do it whenever the police not around. Oh well, we can't stop those people either, they would say out of my business, and mind your own. Oh well, I just couldn't say more than that. Those people are really selfish, and existed in every society.

This goes back to when they were little is my thought. I remember my children coming home and saying, oh mommy so and so was throwing trash out the window of the car. People are lazy when they do this, there is no reason to find a nearby trash bin and or take the trash with them until they get to one. Some people simply don't care. I live right across the street of a really nice park and they have maintenance people and I can see from time to time how upset they get when the trash bin is not full yet the trash is tossed all over and sometimes very close to the trash bins.

Some people have no respect in the world we live in or respect for themselves. What they do outside their home reflects on who they are within themselves.

either they are retards, or live constantly in filth, or think that it's "cool" to litter or because they simply don't care!If they want to be pigs then don't destroy what others want to perserve, I say!!!

Because they are rude and have no respect! I love that commercial where there is litter all over the grounds and then they show the native american indian crying. That commercial gives the best message about how the land that was once his ancestors is being neglected,abused and disrespected.!People need to learn that if they are going to be in this country or any country for that mater then they need to respect it! How would they like it if I came into their house and trashed it?

i want say which part of africa i visited but talking about litter oh my goodness it was nasty.people just take in put there trash on the ground wether there are a trash can or not. i couldn,t believe they had no remorse for just throwing trash on ground.

because they are idiots who don't think - and I rather suspect that they do trash up their own places too

I don't understand why people feel the need to do this, because they should know that they are ruining their own environment. I think that some people just don't give any thought at all to what they're actually doing to their environment, and they don't spend all that much time thinking about the fact that other people have to pick up their litter if they drop it. The worst thing that I don't like to see is when dog owners don't clean up after their pets, because that kind of thing can be horrible for whoeevr has to walk on the pavement after them.

friend did you think some times people get lazy even they saw the garbage can they still throwing anywhere it the reason the garbage can are so far they can`t walk to the garbage can..and another think they pay the tax so the government do they obligation. I know this kind of attitude is wrong. I think our tax never been decrease yearly our tax came into increase..

Needless to say,they can't litter their own yards and homes .In addition,they still do so if they are conscious that they are paying for their trashing,because they may think that even though I don't litter it ,others still litter it.This type of persons in themselves lack of social ethics .They don't think something matters to them apart from themselves.What's bred in the bone will come out in the flesh.
