Since the “ber” months are slowly rolling to get to December, the Christmas month, I am sure that fruitcakes will also be on those supermarkets shelves already. It is one of the trademark foods of the Christmas season. Though, it is a bit costly, I think everyone would like to buy one for themselves . It only comes on Christmas season, so buying it won’t hurt a lot on our budget. My daughter loves it so much, that I couldn’t resist saying “no” to her, when she asks me to buy her a whole one for herself alone. I too, like it, but not so much. I can even let Christmas pass without it, but not for my daughter. But I do buy some , for Christmas gifts to my parents and some close friends. What about you guys?

Sometimes , i don't buy fruitcakes, until the 23rd , when we have already received gifts. If there is no fruitcake among the gifts we have all received at home, i would buy one for my daughter. Then, my in-laws would buy too for her and so with her father's brother. he would be so happy having them at the ref for her to eat everyday. But she don't like salads because they have mayonnaise.

The great thing about fruit cakes is that it doesn't goes bad even after a while. And people tend to 're-gift' it over and over again. It's like the a game of musical chairs. It goes from one person to another until the music stops, or until Christmas season is over. Then the last person has to either eat it, or keep it until the next christmas to 're-gift' it again. Unless of course it goes to someone like your daughter who genuinely likes it.

Actually, i don't know if a fruitcake can last long really. We always just put them inside the refrigerator , for our daughter and everybody to eat , day by day on Christmas season , until it's gone!

I am with you..I love fruit cakes but it has to have a lot of candied fruit and nuts to be good. I have had the expensive to less expensive ones and honestly my favorite is Ralphs fruit cake..It is loaded with all the goodies and Christmas would not be the same with out it...

It's a good thing though, that fruitcakes abound during the Christmas season, when we have extra money to spend for the festivities. And sometimes, fruitcakes are being given away by our bosses.
