Today I Made Apple Strudel

Today our local library had a program to make apple strudel. It was so easy I was amazed! All we needed was an apple, lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, butter and Filo dough with some crushed cookies (they used Honeymaid graham crackers to soak up the liguid). I always thought it was difficult but it turn out to be simple. I peeled and cut up one Granny Smith apple then put a few drops of lemon juice over the diced apples to keep them from turning brown. We mixed 3 tablespoons of sugar with a half tablespoon of cinnamon. We used three sheets of Filo dough and coated them with a half cup of melted butter. You just fold over the layers in half and butter one side then the very top and leave it as a folded rectangle. I put most of the sugar and cinnamon over the apples, saving a little to put on top. We crushed two graham crackers (the whole sheets) and put them on the dough, in the middle. The we put the apples, folded the dough and placed it in a tin with the creases and folds facing down. I topped it off with the rest of the sugar and cinnamon. Now I just have to bake it for a half hour at 350 degrees - can't wait to eat it! Have you ever made apple strudel? What is your recipe?

I was amazing to see cooking classes at the library and could not wait to take one. I never made strudel before but I can see I'll be picking up some Filo dough at the grocery store next time I do.
