Should India take a lesson from China?

Some advocate that India should take a lesson from China on developing the quality of life. But South Korea, Israel, and Taiwan have a better record than China in this regard. China ranks 89 on the Human Development Index (HDI), while South Korea and Israel are placed at 12 and 15. Doing better than India cannot be a yardstick for judging a country’s performance. One needs to be compared with the best-run states. And India –ranked 119 on the HDI should emulate the best and not another laggard country. Am I right?

Yes, even we can stand first with wast difference and it could have been reach so long time before also. But we never reach anywhere, as long as corruption is not eradicated.

I think not only India but also every country should take lessons from other countries if it is beneficial for that country. Am I right?

To be honest, I think Indian people should find the way by themselves. No one could do that for you. Only Indian people know what's best for them. India has this amazing spiritual world (please excuse me if I use the wrong word), how to adapt it with modern world and technology is not easy. But I strongly believe India will make it happen in the near future. Civilizations around the world are different, there is no such thing as "the best way". If you look at history, Kingdom of France values absolute monarchy,British Empire values constitutional monarchy, USA values constitutionalism, the way is changing. How to mobilize the majority Indian people? I don't know. Indian civilization is like a myth to me. But I know there are a lot of beautiful things in there. India needs its own standard.

With India being a country that is basically an up and coming country, I think that they need to take a lesson from not only China, but from all of the countries that have come up before them. I believe that by doing that, eventually India will have a quality of life that is better than all of the other first world countries in the world right now. However, this isn't going to be something that will happen over night.

Please do not compare india with china!!! One is a full fledged democracy and another one is a one party ruled authoritarian government. Higher income doesnt necessarily mean better quality of life! How can you force everyone in your country to have only one child. That is called human rights abuse. You should be proud to be an indian and forget the fact that our per capita income is less than half of that of china's.Quality of life is subjective!

I do not think that India should take lessons from China. Why would any country take a lesson from a communist country is beyond me. Although China is basically an up and coming player in the world economy, only because companies from The USA have farmed out work to china for a long time. China is now learning that they have an edge on things now. I believe that India is far more proficient then China in many ways and that India would be a much better partner for the USA. I am sure that India will grow and become much better then the rest of the middle east. India to me seems to have intelligence behind them.

Both India and China are all developing country with billions of people,We are different from the country or region like South Korea and Taiwan in population quantity, political system, geopolitical factors, history, and so on.We both are not the development state under the aegis of the USA.

We have the potential, man power, wealth, knowledge and above all, a better geographical circumstances in almost all areas. At the same time, the attitude of the people, corruption, wealth concentration, imbalance distribution, selfishness, inefficient highly-decentralised administrative mechanism etc are the few major reasons for the lower position. We have all things what we need. Still lagging behind means our corruption is the only open reasons. You may be ware of the wealth concentrated in the Swiss bank is more than enough to feed the poor India for 10 years or more. The matter is that EVERYONE KNOWS EVERYTHING, BUT NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING, including our GREAT government. As long as this POOR people are here, it is a better chances to become on top for the Powerful people in all respect.

Perhaps India should pick up the good side from all countries no matter how small and obscure. Yes learn from China how they rose to become an economic power, that is their good side, learn human development from China? no offence but when it comes to that, learn it from the other leading countries of the HDI list

India and China are both developing nations - just look at the HUGE rich/poor gap in both nations. Instead of looking to each other as examples, they should focus on already-developed first-world countries. Given their booming and poised-to-dominate economies, good leadership and good decisions are what India and China need for development.
