I want to get opinions on Euthanasia for our animals. Do you that it is right? Wrong? Do you feel as if it is against God to Euthanize? Please share!

It depends on the situation. About 2 years ago, my Grandmother asked a veterinarian to euthanized our dog because he got a stroke and stopped eating. To avoid further suffering fro his part. My Granny have decided to do our Leo a favor and eased his pain. But it was really sad.

I have never had to euthanize a pet yet. I am sure that it would be VERY hard to do. I am not looking forward to the day that I have to do this. Thank you for your opinions. Have a great day!

I think there are many reasons euthanasia is okay. When an animal is suffering, and won't get better, then it's time to help them pass quickly so you can stop their pain. When an animals quality of life is low (when the good no longer makes up for the bad) it is time for euthanasia. This doesn't necessarily mean old, sick dogs. Extremely aggressive dogs that have not responded to help do not have a good quality of life. A dog that has bitten people and is put in some kind of quarentine does not have a good quality of life...we have to think about what's better for the animal. Life in a cage is not worth the 'life' part. I do NOT like the fact that animals are being euthanized in shelters due to "lack of homes," but I think you might have just been talking about our pets...

I agree with euthanasia in shelters. I don't believe in that either. I wish all shelters were no kill shelters. I have always old my family and friends that when I win the lottery, I am going to start a no kill shelter and buy tons of land to adopt animals that have no homes. It makes me sad that they have to sit in kennels all day with no interaction and then be put to sleep for doing nothing wrong when they are healthy. I think I was an animal in my past life. It just brings me to tears when I have to think about sick or homeless animals. :-(

I would never have an animal of mine suffer if there was no way out of that suffering but the end of their life. and it seems so unhumane that my human family members can't be given the same respect.

I wouldn't be able to let any of animals suffer either. Even though it is hard for euthanasia, I wouldn't want them to suffer any more than they have to.

As for me, I'm not really sure if it is right or wrong. But if ever that will happen to my dog, I think I will consider doing the Euthanasia rather than to see my dog suffering and will end up dying. Why? Is your dog sick?

No, my dog isn't sick. I work at a University Veterinary Hospital. I schedule a lot of Euthanasia. It is hard, but better for the animals. Just curious on how others felt on the subject.

It absolutely is right in my opnion to put an animal to sleep if it is so ill it can't get well. I might argue if it were a person because the person can tell you their wishes. A pet can't tell you their wishes and should not suffer especially since they don't understand why they are suffering.

I agree completely. It would be horrible to let an animal suffer. It would be hard for the animal AND the owner of the animal.
