I Have A New Nokia Cellphone

My old nokia cellphone must work fine yet. However, they are no longer producing those batteries for the old models and, mine suffered from a busted battery already. So, my daughter bought a new one for me. I am now faced with a big trouble. At my age, learning new things are no longer easy. Until now, whenever i need to send text messages or do a call, I will always need the help of my son in order to be able to do so. How do you think should I proceed in order to be able to resolve this problem? My sons are patiently teaching how to do it right but, it is just so easy for me to forget procedures already.

May be sending text messages or receiving calls are easy one in all cellphones. Now a days all are using mobile phones i see some olders using smart phone as their childrens give them that phone. My grand mother also had a cute phone but she doesnt knows the actual use of that phone but she learnt from her son how to use that phone for calling others and receiving phone calls when someone calling her. Its the basic things needed for whom using mobile phones.

Cellphones are supposedly designed in such a way that they are very user friendly. But notice that, old folks always find the old models that they are used to to be the more friendlier ones. Thanks for the tip.

Ask your son to write down all the procedures. That way you can look them up when you get confused!

This to rest assure you that all advises are well taken. My cellphone use has always been limited to calling and texting. So when I got one with camera, radio and tv, I was amazed! There might be other features there yet that I need to explore and uncover.

Nokia got to be the leader in the cellular phone industry by being user friendly. It is so easy to learn, as long as you do not close your mind into exploring your phone. You would end up playing with your cellphone in no time.

This is what I'd suggest you do. Administer the help of your sons to help in this project. Many of us are visual learners. As such, you need to see the steps right in front of you. Thus, you need to have the steps in pictorial form on paper. If you could get your sons to develop a step-by-step guide to make a call or send a text message, you could paste it on your fridge so you will never need to illicit the help of your sons to do simple procedures. After several attempts doing it on your own, you will find the steps easy to remember and you can do it without help. I know the older you are, the longer it takes to learn something new. But we have to find ways that best fit our brain power and processing speed.

I am a person who is so very forgetful...so it is never easy to teach me the proper way of using the phone. What I always do is to read the accompanying manual. It is the effective way for me to learn as to how a new cellphone works.

Same situation occurs with my mother also. At the beginning even my mom find difficulty in accessing the cell phones,But slowly she got used to that. Be patient and dont lose confidence. Only interest will make it possible. Dont give up !!

I can never give up on learning how to fully use the cellphone. I go places from time to time and it is my only fastest and quickest plus more reliable link to my children and siblings. I will have to cope. No choice left for me but to learn.

In my collection, I have two of the old models wherein no more batteries are available for sale at the dealers. I should have a third one wherein my brother knows how to procure a battery for it but, it got stolen some three years ago. Well, good for you that the batteries of the ones you used to be using are still in good condition.

Hi trinidad! My mother is about the same age as you and she bought a new cellphone recently. She's trying to discover its features by herself but whenever she can't find something, she asks us. She knows the basics already but I think she's not able to maximize all the features of her cellphone yet but it's okay with her since what she just wanted was just watch videos of her favorite Korean actors.

No one can hold on to those old models once they get busted and the dealers have no more of them anyway to sell. It is quite a waste that the cellphone comes with so many features and I only make use of the call and text features. lol.

I guess one way to resolve your problem would be to practice, practice, practice. In other words, play around with your phone. It's the only real way to get to know (and remember) how to use it. Good luck and happy mylotting!

I am just curious what kind of nokia model your daughter bought for you. Since I believe all nokia model is having almost the same model unless the latest touch screen model. I think you can learn easily though. Even though new model, but when you are using it every day, I am sure you will be familiar in near terms.

The thing I love about Nokia is its usefulness and robustness. Though I already have an Android smartphone, I still use my Nokia 5225 more frequently. Basically, I think all Nokia phones have the same menu, the only changes are the icons. I think what you would need is a shortcut on your phone so that with one press, you can either text or call in an instant.

Yes, I will have to see if there are some shortcuts. Until now, I always ask my son to do the dialing for me, as well as, the texting. It is good that they understand my situation.

It's still new so it's understandable that you don't know how to use it yet. Well if you keep on forgetting, maybe you could try writing the steps down so whenever your son is not around, you'll know what to do. Soon, you'll just be able to remember what to do.

Yep, what a candid observation, clearwater. Nonetheless, I might be using the radio feature if i stay in the farms. I might also try using the camera to take pictures of some beautiful scenery. This is what I need to learn to use. Those others more? I find no need for them just yet.
