West Indies cricket hit a new low by getting bowled out for 61 against Bangladesh. Shakib Al Hasan took 4 for 16 as the Bangladeshi bowlers ripped apart the West Indies batting line up. Bangladesh went on to win the match by 8 wickets with 30 overs to spare. The irony of all this is that Chris Gayle is not part of the West Indies team!! What is your take on the West Indies Cricket? Cheers! Ram

Ya i read this in cricinfo. Even though west indies were all out for 61. The won the series as they have already won the first two matches in the 3 match odi series. Any way i was not aware of this series till today. Initially i thought this may be a t20 match as bangladesh chased the score in 20 overs. Then slowly i found that this was an odi and it was poor performance from westindies. Well gayle is not in good terms with the board, thats why he is not in the team. And he get more money by playing t20. Westindies board is financially poor so these kind of issues will happen, As every ting is dependent on money.

Actually the West Indies reply just lasted only 20 overs. So in that sense it was more of T20 match than a 50 over match. I do not think the Gayle issue is only about money. There were many issues including the team selection and the captaincy issues and all these together resulted in the current situation. Cheers! Ram

The match was more like a t20.in india there is a math.obliv sprit that help the team to bind together. Players also wish to play for the home nation. But in west indies its not the case. There the different territories unite together due to cricket. So the sprit of being a nation and becoming part of a nations team is missing. Thus one reason why gayle is now a freelance t20 player for the clubs to hire.

Completely agree , state of Cricket in WI is pathetic to say the least.During World cup match when WI lost to India, i read the comments of many WI fans , they wrote that WI purposely lost the match as they want to avoid Aus in World cup QF,i wonder how you can avoid a team in a world cup and think of winning it .Very recently we saw WI cricketers thanking their fans by waving hands in the ground after losing a test series at home, such things are normally done once you win something big, and for them avoiding the whitewash from India was big thing.Gayle, Pollard,Bravo hardly play for WI, and even when they play their dedication is not that much when they play for club teams.WI sending second string team to play T20s in England was another joke of their cricket. In my view Bangladesh board showed their inexperience by not providing rank turners otherwise we could have seen a whitewash of WI.When WI visits India , BCCI should provide such pitches to India, that way new guys can be tried in tests too ,also it will ensure whitewash of WI.

The state of WI cricket really is shocking these days. After the PCB and the Zimbabwe Cricket Board, this is the third worst board. I think half their problem is because they are different countries coming together to form a team. So the team spirit amongst players and board is missing completely. Cheers! Ram

Hi Ram, When individual interests takes the preference then these kind of things happen. West Indies cricket is suffering from ego, lack of foresight, infighting between players and board and selection committee etc. Leaving players like Gayle etc doesn't help anyone. If there are problems they should be sorted out. Most importantly the WI cricket board should become more professional and handle things better. And Players should also realize that playing for country is very important and should be ready to concede a couple of things for that. Till then West Indies cricket and fans have to suffer. Very sad to see this kind of performances from WI who were such a good team till 90s. Happy Mylotting!

I completely agree with your assessment. The problem with WI cricket is that it is not one single country. So there are these different countries that have to work together to get a team in place. And it is this aspect that is really contributing to all these politics. I think it is time to split it into individual countries. And though initially the teams might take time to form, they will probably emerge stronger than this WI team currently!! Cheers! Ram

Hi ram it is a good magical win and i wrote about it on my blog http://rajeevkumarsinghblog.blogspot.com/2011/10/bangladesh-magical-win-over-west-indies.html It a strange that west indies scores such a low score as they were known for thier deed that they do in past. Today's west indies became more likely just a newbie team and had not any reputation in international cricket. Player like gayle is not get in the team then this will going to happen again and again. Board of cricket at west indies must hink of this they can't keep out thier best player. All the issues must be resolve as it the pride of country not an individual. If it continues one day we see West indies will even not playing the world cups.

Yes, you are right the West Indies team is still living in it's past. Unfortuantely the current team is not a great reflection of the great teams of the past. Of course, the WI Board is one of the reasons for this deterioration. Cheers! Ram

Yes, Keeping Gayle out is a major mistake. Unfortunately both parties have taken too rigid a stand. And the ultimate sufferer is the WI cricket team. Cheers! Ram
