I'm just really confused..i graduated B.S. nursing but i am not happy with my profession.. i never wanted to take up this course yet there was a a lot of opportunity.. you could work at several countries of your choice with a high salary..but as i graduated there was an overproduction of nurses..I wasn't able to find a job yet.. i wanted to go to MED school since that is my ambition (even when i was a child).I'm planning to enroll next school year..i ask my parents and the were supportive...im having doubts.. thinking about practicality ..i feel that I'd be a burden to my parents...i need to be enlightened

chillmaik I always thought there was a shortage of nurses...but if you have the will and endurance to be a doctor absolutely you should go for it. Maybe you could work part time and help pay for the education if you don't want to burden your parents? I know doctors programs are very demanding but maybe you could work something out. There are many loan programs here but I don't know how that works where you are. I wish you all the best!!

It's a bit disheartening to know that too many misguided youths are pushed or I should say influenced into taking a career path that's not suitable to ones passion and ambitions but by What's in demand or something that is financially rewarding profession....so there lies the confusions, regrets, and disappointments. Some end up doing a job he/she absolutely hate, waking up in the morning and having a constant feeling of why do I have to go to work today,as oppose to looking forward to it and getting the satisfaction of doing a job well done. Think it over and over before you make a decision of going to MED school, you have to dig deeper and take everything into consideration,...and ask yourself if that's what you really want,if It's feasible how about going to a tranquil and peaceful place for a week by yourself(7,100 islands there's got to be 1 that you can go)sometimes it's what we need to clear our mind and reflect on important aspects of our lives. You are very lucky to have a loving and supportive family.and for that you should be very grateful.Follow your heart and do what you think is best....you're still young,Many opportunities lies ahead..... ....life's a struggle and it's not going to be easy and smooth sailing you'll encounter storms and big waves along the way. I wish you all the best.....

It is truly admirable of you to wish to be a doctor. While there is overproduction of nurses, there is also a shortage of doctors. We must remember that although the Nursing field is autonomous, it cannot operate without doctors. I would not be put-off by the costs as you have said it yourself, you have your parent's support. The more time you spend doubting if you should pursue it, the more time is wasted. I am pretty sure you have a brilliant mind. Finishing Nursing is one proof of that. Yes your parents will have to make some sacrifices for now, but if you will make it someday, you'd be able to earn, and in fact even be a doctor in the States, or wherever you want.

If you feel even a bit of intuition that you would like to take up a doctor career i suggest you go for it. Never give up. You could always try to take up a part time job a few hours a week or do some work online to support some of the expenses. i am sure that like all parents yours would be more than happy to help if they can. otherwise there is always the option of taking a student loan to finance your studies. you can make the repayments once you start working then. also, since you are a graduate nurse couldnt you try to find a job at least as a carer?

I can totally relate. I took the nursing course, too, but I never anticipated the surplus which has been occurring for sometime now. I was also contemplating of whether I should pursue med school as I always wanted to be a surgeon. But then again, I realize that at this age, I should be earning and supporting myself at the least. My parents approved of my med plans, but I'm still so confused. I was thinking I should at least work first, earn, and then pay for my own tuition. But it'll take quite awhile before I can do so.

Always follow your dream. If you don't enjoy nursing, Im sure you will never do even if you find a good job. I have a cousin who wanted to do law but her parents insisted on her doing business administration and up to this moment she is not happy with the job. Take your time first and think what you really want.

I'm hearing that a lot about an overabundance of qualified Nursing Staff having no jobs available to go into after graduation in their own Country (I live in Ireland)...many have chosen to emigrate to follow their career as their only available option..Having achieved a Degree in your career choice,it must be a pain to be considering another one to get where you wanted to be in the first place..good luck with your choices!

At this is age don't think that you are burden to your parents. They are the one who gives support when we are studying and we need to support them when we get settled in life. It's good if you complete your MED. Then you can look after your parents. If you still feel that you are giving more pressure join the school and beside do some par time job.

Chillmaik I would say follow you dreams and your heart. If you feel that Med school will be better for you then go for it. I am also in college to receive my degree in Health Care Management that would let me run any health care facility whether it be hospital, nursing home, or rehabilitation center I still have a ways to go but I am going for it the Health Care Industry will never die and cities are always need nursing I hate to say but maybe considering relocating remember these are your desire and if you don't have the money seek getting financial assistance.
