Can writing earn me anything?

Hey everyone! I'm new here to myLot. Okay, sort of new...I joined years ago, but never really had the chance to become active and then forgot about it. I recently decided to actually do something with my account this past week. What I was wondering is are there sites in which I can write and get paid for it? I have no experience in money making sites or earning money online. But, I do LOVE to write and I was wondering if that could earn me a little extra money? I was hoping all of you experienced earners out there could point me in the right direction as to if and how I can make that happen! Thanks everybody!

Off the top of my head: Bidding sites for freelance work - Elance, Guru, oDesk, Freelancer Revenue share: Helium, AC, Triond, Bukisa, HubPages, Squidoo, iWriter, Wikinut, Factoidz, ehow, ezinearticles, etc. Marketplace: Constant Content This question gets asked a LOT - check out the following for a couple of great discussions: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2551937.aspx http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2546370.aspx There's also a list of resources at the end of the Back to Basics series here: http://scrawlbug.com/2011/09/11/freelance-writing-back-to-basics/

I can't really recommend anything because I don't know how you prefer to work: short-term profit, long-term profit, part-time, full-time, bits and pieces, academic, marketing... writing's a HUGE area. All the sites above are reliable, that's for sure. Which one(s) you use depends on what style you prefer.

I just wanted to say thank you, Spike! I finally had a chance to sit down and look at some of these sites today. I had no idea so much was readily available out there if you know where to look. I have to say, it's a little bit daunting and I'm slightly overwhelmed at the moment, but excited nonetheless! I really appreciate you taking the time to point me in the right direction!

WOW! Thanks a lot, Spike! These sites will surely keep me busy for a while... Do you recommend any of them more so than the others? I'm definitely going to check out the discussions and the Back to Basics series later on tonight. You've been ever so helpful, and I know who to ask when I have questions now ;) Thanks again!

Writing will earn you extra money, but you have to work hard at it and write a lot and promote your articles and not get writer's block.

Yeah, writer's block sometimes strikes when I least expect it. But, I'm going to check out all these different sites and hopefully I'll find my niche somewhere :) Thanks!

If you want to write on your own topics then Triond is probably the best and easiest site to use. Another good site for writing your own topics is Expertscolumn. These two you earn by page views and for Triond the payout is only .50 cents for Paypal each month which is easy to make payout. Expertscolumn is $5 into your paypal. If you want to write for other people on their topic iwriter is an option as well as odesk. Hope I helped.

I do enjoy writing my own material. But, at the same time, when I'm dealing with writers block, writing on a topic that has been given to me helps me break through that blockage. So, yes you helped me a lot! I appreciate it and will definitely look into these sites! Thanks again, soapies :)

Of course writing can earn you money! You can earn it right here at mylot, just look around the website. Now if you really love writing and want to make money then take a writing class at a local college in the evenings. Then you can even write books or screenplays along with articles online.

Of course writing my own book would get me tons of money...if it were any good that is! Haha! I do dabble in my own short stories from time to time. And I am currently brainstorming an idea that may be something more than a short fic! Thanks for your repsonse, cluznar! It's much appreciated :)

There are a number of sites where you can write online and make some earnings, articles, short stories, reviews, and so on. Writing has been my favorite hobby too, since my college years. One of my favorite writing sites these days has been "Review Stream". You can write brief reviews on a variety of topics there and get paid.

Hey greenline! I've written ever since I can remember... I love writing my own original stories, and I've written several movie reviews recently. I'm attempting to build up enough to start a movie review blog! I will definitely check this site out, and thanks so much for your help!

You could try writing for triond. Earning is slow but if you really love writing and you can get many things on there you might be able to make a decent amount of money from it but if you only want to write a little here and there I dont recommend it. Good luck
