...just to forget the stress of the week? There are Parks everywhere. All cities I have visited have more than one. Yet some people do not think that part of a visit to a city is to wander into a Park. I´m posting a picture of a Park in Wisconsin, US. It has aan awesome azalea in bloom. What do you feel when nature is so generous as in this picture? Share!

I do live right across the street of a very beautiful park. I also live very close to Navy Pier which is another very nice park. I do enjoy weather permitting nice walks at the park right across the street. Especially in the evenings as the kids play baseball there. I also enjoy simply gazing at the stars at night while I stroll once in a while. The park across the street from me is very family oriented, so there are always lots of people there all the time. When I see nature such as you beautiful picture it is like therapy, as it is very calming.

I´m glad that you have a Park near you, HWG! I also have a Park a couple of blocks away from my house. We must not give up on mankind. The Park near my house used to be a place to throw garbage many years ago. Now there are trees, places to make barbecues and other for children to play.

Hi HWG, you are lucky to be able to stay near the park. At least, you can always relax yourself whenever you feels boring. As for me, the nearest park is still very far away from my home.

The park was an added incentive as I do like the outdoors. I also play softball for a charity for the last 8 years. I play each Spring and Summer one day a week. It is so much fun and do like that it is for charity that we play. Something about parks and watching the birds free remind me a great deal of my childhood where I often imagines what it was like to fly free. lol

Hi marguicha, Bengaluru, from which metro city I moved to this city is called the Garden City of India. It has the famous Lalbagh [meaning red garden]. History has it that the name came from the exclamation uttered by one famous ruler, Tipu Sultan in his early life after seeing the beautiful read roses that adored the garden. It is a huge garden with a wide variety of trees of interest to Botany students. It is vast, picturesque and wonderful with a big lake as well within. For about two years, we were staying close to the park which itself is in the heart of the city and we would go for a good long walk every day early morning. It used to be an excellent refreshing routine which I hated missing. :D I wish I could share a picture but I can't yet. However, I'm posting a link to the official site to give you some glimpses of this beautiful park: http://lalbaghgardens.com/Highlights/Gardens.html

Thank for the link, friend. It is SO beautiful! I wish you would make a post with this and place the link as not many of the people who answer my post will scroll up or down to see it and it´s worth knowing. India never ceases to amaze me, with the little I know of your beautiful country.

I love parks, but not in TN. Its hot and humid which is one thing that makes me sick. I would take my dog to a dog park here, but he is a pit bull/boxer and that makes people nervious. He is a really friendly dog and has never picked a fight with any animal....though he does chase rabits, but its because he is curious about them. After he catches up to it, he stops chasing it because he doesn't know what to do with them. I did live in Alaska and used to go parking, camping and to parks all the time. I was in boy scouts so I spent a lot of time in the wilderness. I love hiking as well. I love nature except for spiders and the Alaskan state bird (the mosquito). I even spent 3 days in the woods with a pocket knife and the clothes on my back for boy scouts. The wilderness is very relaxing and helps relieve stress.

When I lived in Alaska I used to go the park every summer several times per week. And in Washington state, When I was in college for the first time, I used to take the long way through the park. Both have great climates when it comes to going to parks. (Unless it is winter in Alaska) Though it can still be fun to go to, but just gotta have warm clothes on. Its pretty in a different way.

I´m sorry the climate where you live makes it impossible for you to go to a park. I am fortunate as where I live the climate is very mild. Only a few days in Summer are very hot (but dry) and very few days in Winter it´s real cold (for us, as many people would not find it cold at all). All throughout the year, you can walk to parks here.

Hi margu, I like to roam in parks. In a city life parks are the free breathing place. I go every morning in a nearby park to take fresh air and to enjoy nature. But there is no picture with your discussion.

I live in pretty complete city. LOL, I mean it has malls, high buildings and whatnot people manufactured. yet, I can still see the beauty of nature here. there are many parks here. in my neighbourhood, I reckon three parks which people usually go there for picnicking, walking, relieving stress, or/and even dating. and one of the park I know in my neighbourhood has animals in it, some outbond facilities, gardening training (actually it is one of nature reservation programs), and I dont know how what is the correct term for it but it;s called "sekolah alam" here (literally translated would be "nature school) where kids or anyone can learn how to make use of everything around them to help saving earth such as recycling things, making natural fertilizer, and so on. so the park is never really quite because families go there as alternative way to spend their free time.. it feels relaxing and refreshing to be away from some polutions for some time, gasp the fresh air and spoil myself with the beauty of trees and flowers there also it is nice to see happy people there.

You seem to live in a paredise, kyrararen, as you have the best of the two worlds. I also live in a big city and I´m very happy to have a nice park at a walking distance from my house. It´s not very big, but as I live very near the mountains, I can also go out of the city very easily.

I used to like to go to parks, but since I can't walk easily because of my foot problems (both feet actually) but sometimes I'll go and read or stitch, not much any more, - have to see how much I do it - tho last spring I sat out in my front yard and read before it got too hot and now I have my craft shed in the back with a nice deck to sit out when it cools off.

I go to a nearby park close to home which was part of a wet land some years back...the place was developed to build homes and units but the land in the middle which had a creek running trough it was made into a park with big ponds and there are ducks and other native birds living in it! the park is planted with native trees they really made a good job and the place is just lovely I usually visit there once a week!

There is a park in my town, but it is not a very nice place at the moment, because they are rebuilding it, and there is a lot of noise. I look forward to to seeing the result when they finish rebuilding the place. My favourite park on my island is a park in nothern part of the island. It takes a while to drive from my town to that place, but it is worth it, because it is beautiful place. Close to the park there is a castle and we can see it from the park. Inside the park there are a lot of sculptures. All of them are made from natural materials like trees and stones, and it is fun to walk around in the park and look for the sculptures. Some of them are hard to find because they look like a part of nature.

Be patient, friend! And when the park is ready, do send a picture of it. It sounds awesome! Our parks don´t usually have sculptures but we have squares with them. But not your kind of sculptures. You must send pictures of them too.

Though there really isn't a park that is within walking distance from my house, there are a lot of great parks in our area and we do visit them on a regular basis. We will go to the park so that the kids can play and there are also some parks around here that have great walking trails. Additionally, there is an arboretum that isn't too far away that has a lot of beautiful flowers. Parks are definitely something that our family has always enjoyed.

I love arboretums. lthough they are so different from parks, they can be so besutiful! And going to a park is a nice way of having cheap entertainment for the kids. And they can play while you watch them seated and resting.

There's a famous park in front of our office building. I can say that it is one of the most beautiful fact Ive ever seen and the fact that it is in the most commercialized place in the Philippines makes me think it's really awesome. It preserves the tress, plants, and Bermudas of the place. Sometimes, we and my c-workers go there to release stress and to stay away from stressful things in our office.

But my main reason to go to parks is to ride bikes and skateboards We went to this park, which is about 15 minutes bus ride, last week. I absolutely love that park and it is right beside a river too which makes it so pleasant.

There is this festival of Cherry Blossom and it looks absolutely amazing. Here is some more info of the park: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeouido And a picture during the Cherry Blossom festival

Yeah,I really feel like going to Parks to enjoy the pleasant scenery and fresh air, which would greatly reduce all kinds of pressure in my life. However, since I entered the college,I have just been to the parks for only a few times, and I almost spend every day at school, busy with my study and examinations.I cherish the time when I was in my middle school, when there is nature around me and I can easily enjoy the nature as a park. But now,in a large city like Beijing, there are all mordern buildings around, and it's more difficult for me to enjoy the park and the nature. As a person who loves parks and the nature,I would try my best to leave more time for my appointment with the parks, and reset my tired and impatient mind to the quiet and relaxed one.

I guess, I just accept Parks, as part of the landscape..and visit only the TWO here, on the Island, that are huge Marine Parks! I don't actually know the square miles of this Island, but do know that over 60% is Parkland, and all beautiful, but it is also becoming a tax burden! We are heavily taxed for all the Parkland and it's maintenance! I think your picture is beautiful...and green spaces are so necessary on this planet...but do they all have to be in one place..LOL? Have a great day, special lady...truly thank you for your support!
@marguicha (216487)

Of course not all of them have to be in one place. Almost all big cities have Parks and they are the lungs of the city. I suppose tha the tax problem has to do with an inadecuate management of the parks. Problably if there were more tourism (my idea, I could be wrong) and paid for visits at some places would help. Not all Parks are big burdens although all cost to maintain.

Hi marguicha, I think it has been long time we visited a park. Earlier we visited a park once in a month atleast. This time, all of us were down with health issues and yet to completely recover from the same by all members of family so no time to think about an outing. Now the climate also changing and it adds so change of mood as well as irritations (due suffering cold). Here in this place also some good parks and even small parks are available in nearby home.

Sometimes taking a stroll into a Park will help your health if you use proper clothing. Jusy remember the amount of real oxigen as in comparison with the foul air of the cities.

Parks not only are beautiful in a calm way, but plants are our fountain of oxigen. If we live in a city, it is imperative that once in a while we go where plants and trees are to clean our lungs.
