What are some yummy money saving recipes that you know of? Feeding a family of 5 is hard to do, especially on a limited budget! I'm trying everything to save money.

I use a crock pot to cook stews in that way you can buy a cheaper cut of meat. I save all the bits of veggies and make soup. Peel spuds a bit thicker then use the skins as a meal, toss them in olive oil and herbs and spices and cook in oven until cooked, use the rest of the spuds the next day. I'll put my thinking cap on for you as to what else I do, bit short on time at mo, but wanted to answer so I didn't lose you. We live on a tight budget as well.

We do lots of soups here. Water is cheap and a main ingredient in my soups. I think we are going to have taco soup tonight. I really just dump what we have on hand in a pot and heat it up with taco seasoning. I dont know if its good or if my family has adjusted to the way I cook but they seem to love it. We also do planned leftovers so we might have a roast on Monday then plan a roast beef sandwhich for Tuesday.

Yum! Taco soup sounds good. What all are you putting in it tonight? I'm imagining shredded chicken or ground beef, tomatoes, maybe some type of beans, corn, cheese, and sour cream to top. Maybe some chips with it? Hmm, definitely going to have to try it out. Thanks for the tip! I loooove vegetable soup, and plan on making some potatoe soup soon. Cold weather is the best time for that!

I save all kinds of broths to make my sauces better. Even chicken carcass or a bone with make an awesome soup. I add leeks and sometimes oatmeal.
