Does it make you feel better when you do things yourself?

I've always loved the challenge of getting things done on my own without help. Although, with certain things it can be nice to have an extra hand or two. Then there are other things that make me feel accomplished when I'm able to do by myself. I'm like that a lot with horseback riding. I started riding when I was 9 and I had a trainer. We went to shows and eventually she moved away so I got my own horse and went down to a different trainer. My horse and I would win a lot together and then that trainer moved too. So I went to a barn where I had been friends with the owner and I basically had to train my horse myself and keep him in shape. Every so often I would get tips and advice from the owner but I was pretty much on my own. Last year I went to Regionals and my horse and I came out of every class with either a champion or reserve champion. That was probably my proudest horse show ever because I did all the work to get my horse to that point and in the end I was rewarded for it. Same thing with my new job. I went in, applied, and got called back and eventually hired. I didn't have anyone put in a word for me and I had no connections with the store. I got the job purely on my efforts to apply. For some reason, doing things like that are so rewarding to me and it tells me a lot about what I can accomplish. Do you like accomplishing things on your own or would you rather have help from others?

When I moved here many years ago, I didn't have any help from anybody. There were a lot of people leaving my hometown going to places where others have gone hoping that family would help them out at the beginning. We didn't have any family when we arrived. I didn't have a job or any support I could draw from. Yet, I was able to provide for my family then, and I am now able to help others coming here. That's what makes me proud of what I did. That I didn't ask for help, yet I can provide help now.

Wow, I think that's really great. I don't see asking for help as a sign of weakness, but it does make you feel so much better when you're able to do something completely on your own. It just seems to make the success so much sweeter since you know that you worked hard and accomplished things all on your own.

Yes, that's exactly what I get from it too. Like if someone asks about something you've done, you're able to say you were able to do it all yourself. For me, that's a really great feeling.

It's always a good feeling when we achieved something by our own. I just signed up with one earning site where you published some articles or blogs. Someone inspired me to write and I tried it. I am so happy when my articles were on top and for more than a month I achieve something that other writers never achieved for a short time that I have. I am so thankful with my mentor and yes, for myself too. I am not a writer but I have proven to my mentor that I can be one.
