Ok, fess up.........Do ya "Spit" or "Swallow" your bubble-gum? When I was a kid, I was told, swallowing bubble gum was a no-no. I was told the gum would stick to my heart. Did you swallow your bubble-gum? If not, what were you told?

Hello Dear Karenakadimples! Warm Welcome to Mylot! I am afraid if this discussion may get deleted, as this is a poll type question, which can be answered in few words! But in spite of that, to keep up the tradition alive, as a senior member of this forum I am responding you, just to encourage you! I have never swallowed my chewing um or bubble gum so far! After some time of chewing the gum or resin becomes tasteless and it gives an feeling of some unnatural thing in our mouth! So when I start feeling the pain in my jaw, I spit it out! Thanks for the discussion! All the best and have a nice time on this wonderful site!

I was told we couldn't digest it. That it would build up on the inside of the stomach and I eventually wouldn't be able to eat. But yes since a kid I have always spit mine out. I still don't know the actual truth. I am sure it probably just goes right through like everything else.

It's rubber. It is not food. Don't eat it. No, it's not going to build up in your stomach and kill you. It's like if you eat a coin. Eventually it will come out, but it's not a good plan. Why swallow your gum anyway? It's not hard to just spit it out.

of course we need to take it out from our mouth, its dangerous to swallow bubble gum,but of course we should not spit that anywhere because it will stick to the shoes and sandals of other people,so the better is we should put it in a small piece of paper.

I try to throw it away in the waste basket if it's tasteless but there are times enough I forget and just swallow it. I prefer that above spitting it out on the street or stick it to furniture like so many people like to do. I heard it takes a very long time till chewing gum is rotten/gone. I never heard that it would stick to your heart (seems impossible to me) but I can immagine that it will take a long time for your body to get rid of that gum also. It's a long time ago I ate bubble-gum (now I talk about 30 years or longer ago), since that time there are so many other kinds of chewing gum I think most people use that one. A study says you are smarter if you chew gum so...

Never swallow it. Even though I can swallow but I afraid that it will stick in our stomach. A long time ago, my parents told me that the gum will stick inside my stomach.

I always spit my gum out now. As a kid I can remember swallowing it occasionally. My mom always told me it would hurt my stomach. I think I remember hearing that it takes like 7 years for it to digest in your stomach. I'm not sure if that is right or not.
