hi there fellow pinoy bloggers! I am planning to open an account to verify my paypal, but before that I want to know which is better and much practical to use. SmartMoney or EON? I made a research that some say they can withdraw their paypal funds through smartmoney. Some say it still better to use EON? so I want to know what will be most of the pinoy here would suggest base on their experience. Now to know which is practical to use I wrote some questions bellow with answers (just correct me if I'm wrong with the answers I supplied to the questions). so here are the questions: -How much is the processing fee? SmartMoney = P120.00 EON = P350.00 -Is there an annual fee? how much? SmartMoney = None, all you need to pay is one-time processing fee for the SmartMoney card (based on SmartMoney FAQ) EON = Yes, P350.00 -Paypal fund transfer fee? SmartMoney = P250.00 because SmartMoney will be used as Debit/Credit Card EON = if you will transfer money to your account less than P7,000.00 paypal fee is P50.00. Free for P7,000.00 or more -ATM Withdrawal fee/charge? SmartMoney = BDO (Bank partner of SmartMoney) withdrawal fee is P3.00 EON = UnionBank, withdrawal fee is free. Other bank = P10.00 to P12.00

The SmartMoney Paypal transfer fee seems a bit too steep if you want to use it for ongoing online work. Just think about it: SmartMoney requires 250 pesos every time you transfer funds while EON only requires 50 (which is waived when you transfer 7,000 and up). Even with higher annual/startup fees, EON still comes out on top if you make most of your money online.

yeah, i heard that some bloggers had trouble getting an EON. 2 valid IDs are required to open an EON card. Check this link to know their requirements. http://www.unionbankph.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=915&Itemid=250 have you tried to reapply for EON? why not try other ID or document like Police Clearance or (NSO) authenticated Birth Certificate. In Applaying for SmartMoney only one (1) ID is required and a Smart Sim.

It depends on your goal. If you are planning to use the card just for one-time payment online, then Smart Money card is the ideal one, and it has an excellent security feature of auto-locking after use. But if you are planning to use the card for recurring payments, like for paying monthly hosting fee of websites, then EON is better. I both have them, but the one I used to verify my Paypal account is Unionbank's EON. Maybe because, during the time of verification, Smart Money then was not yet accepted to verify Paypal account, so I used EON. With regard to the processing fees, I only paid P30. I wonder why you said it's P120. I only paid them P30, in Smart Wireless Center. I guess, maybe I am already a Smart subscriber and already have a Smart Money number in use, am I right?

i'm confused. I read in the smart website that P120.00 is the one-time processing fee for personalized card or you can pay P100.00 for instant card. Never seen P30.00 pesos there. this is the link http://www1.smart.com.ph/money/faqs/#faq16 hmmmm... when did you applied for SmartMoney?

Hi angel, I haven't tried any other way to withdraw Paypal balance but I've been using EON for a year now. I've never had a problem with their service yet. I'm very much contented and satisfied actually with the service.

I think smart money has an annual fee of 200 though I am not so sure, the last time I check was September or October this year. Maybe they change their policy now. EON on the other hand is 350.00 and it is not processing fee it is their annual fee I just recently applied for it.

I haven't tried using SmartMoney when withdrawing funds from PayPal. I stick with what I used and has guaranteed fast and reliable payment. I cannot give suggestions to you because I don't want to try other payment options, only EON.
