So I had this crazy dream about zombies and witches, among other things. When I told a few people about it, they said it would probably make a pretty good book. And well, I've wanted to write one since I was little. So I figured here's a pretty good idea. Anyway, I don't have any books about zombies, so I don't know what's already been done before. I'm looking for suggestions on books to read about them.(like teen reader books) any help is appreciated.

Zombies have been done so many times in so many ways I'm not sure that there really is an original idea left, I think what is the most important aspect to concentrate on when writing a good zombie book is making it as believable as possible. You want your reader to be afraid, you want them to feel like an outbreak like this could really happen. Try to think of zombies in a different light, not as the obvious decomposed monsters you are used to seeing in zombie flicks but perhaps as a more subtle creature(think vampires) No matter what you settle on just make sure your words are original and I'm sure your book will be successful, try and think of it like the telephone game we play as a kid, you start with one message and by the time it makes it to the end of the line it has changed. I say this to say that even the same story told by a different person will never be the same as the original so even if someone has already done a similar book do not let that discourage you because even the same story told through a different set of eyes can be something totally different and original. Good luck to you, and please let us know when you publish your book I would gladly buy a copy

Although I am not particularly keen on reading books on paper, if I decide, I declare that my favorite genre is "horror". But I do not particularly attract stories of zombies, but rather, witches, spells ghosts, haunted houses, etc.. As for your case .. Well everyone has their own passion.

They say that every story has already been written. If I were you, I'd go ahead and write it - worry about whether it's original later!
