After the Harry Potter series, I began to search for different fictional novels and found the Percy Jackson series. I watched the movie "PJ and the Lightning Thief" and it made me curious about it. Mythology has always been an interest of mine even when I was young so I was hooked before I even know it. :) Percy Jackson is very easy to read. I think it's like the first books of Harry Potter. I also learned a lot from reading it, though most of the characters in the story were already based on very popular Greek figures and events. I like the character of Poseidon. It's really different from the "Poseidon" in the adventures of Hercules. It's a nice change. As of the moment, I prefer the second installment of the series. The Heroes of Olympus Series is much better and very interesting. Here, Riordan combined the Greek and Roman gods to create an engaging story. I just bought the 2nd book and I can't wait for the next one. How about you? What do you think of it? And are there other books you can suggest?

Hi. I haven't read the book but my 10-year-old niece had and she loved it. But I had watched the movie with my son and I found it very entertaining. It's really Greek mythology with a twist. What's also great was that it made it so much easier to explain to my 8-year-old son some basics of Greek mythology, and I was also glad that he took quite some interest in it. If the second book is more interesting as you say, I think I'd buy one for my son :)

Yes, it's really great for teaching the basics of Mythology. When I was young, Hercules had done that for me. The series is really easy to read and the story is really short compared to other books, so it's good for children.

I finished this morning the last book of PJ. I really loved it and I hope for a sequel... Anyway I think those book are inspiring and awsome. I like the way of Rick Riordan (the writer) change the ancient greek myth to make them actual and modern. I hope to find books like those in future because I love reading. Can I suggest you the Eragon' saga? Or, maybe, you'd like the Markus Heitz' series. I did ^^

I read the Harry Potter books and then I think what I read now. When I walking and saw the Percy Jackson first book (Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The lighting thief) I said this is the book for me. I bought them and I start to read when I back home. I love to read books, I was read many books and I think this is once of the best books ever. The book is for a one boy, who understands that he is a son of the one of the Olympians God Poseidon and a half women. The story is very interesting, it is like Harry Potter. If you are not read it, read it because it is so interesting.

It is fun to read but I did not find it memorable. I like the theme of Greek mythology though. I also like the idea of a hero with a physical impairment.(Is dyslexia a physical impairment?)

I'd have read the Greek Mythology stories while at school, but hadn't reread them since..Then having an interest in Scifi and some fantasy as I read more, and seeing LOTR brought to the screen was worth the wait..I had some awareness of a Percy Jackson franchise, but wasn't aware of the story, and then I found "PJ and The Olympians" as an ebook series and read through them, and enjoyed the read..then visiting my Sister one evening I sat down with my Nephews and Nieces who were watching a movie, and as I watched the "Auntie G" part unfold, realised this was Percy Jackson..If You're looking for more books to read, stay with the rest of the PJ books..If You haven't discovered Tolkien as Yet,His intent was to create a fictional Mythology series to compete the Greco/Roman mythology that basically had that market cornered...Start with "The Hobbit",the first book in his series, which is currently in production for a Movie 2 parter release from 2012..LOTR is a more expanded sequel trilogy of books based in the same world, featuring some of the same Characters..the LOTR books are quite a dense read, and can take repeated visits..and the Appendices of the books go into a wealth of background detail, from the various characters, the peoples of "Middle Earth",even studies of the Written and spoken languages created and featured..If you like a bit more humour with your mythology,I'd recommend you check out Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" series..
