does england really deserves for the no1 spot in the test cricket?

Any country which obtain no1 spot in the test cricket, they have to do well in all kind of pitches.But England plays lot of cricket in their own pitches to obtain no1 rank.They are not play well outside England particularly in subcontinent pitches if they are really no1 they should beat India&srilanka in their home pitches,then they should be the real no1 team in the world

I think going to Australia and winning there is not definitely winning in their own background. That really set the tone for the English No. 1 spot. They also won in West Indies and of course the wins at home against almost all the other teams. So if you ask me, yes they do deserve their No. 1 spot currently. Cheers! Ram

ya thats right. they have been able to give good performance overseas also. but its a fact that they are not good at subcontinental pitches. Its not like that they are winning only at their home, so according to the ranking system they deserve the top position.

Correct, sub-continent is their weakness. I think their real test will lie in the next twelve months, when the Ashes is coming up again. This will be followed by a string of overseas tours including the sub-continent!! Cheers! Ram

I think, With the current form they can win the ashes. But surely they may come down when they play in subcontinent.

Ranking is based on point system. And they are on top as they have more points. And what is happening with indian team? Are they giving same performance everytime? Indian team performed badly england. So it dreneq on condition for every team. He india was able to beat england in all tests that they played in england, then this would not have be the situation.

England Test cricket team is good at their own pitches. But, they are not that much excellent in the subcontinent pitches.
