Brilliant bowling performances from Steyn and Tahir get S.A. back into the game.

Brilliant bowling performances from Dayle Steyn, 4/64 and Imran Tahir, 3/55 brought South Africa back into the game from virtually hopeless condition. At one stage Australia were surging ahead at 174 for no loss just 92 runs behind the South African total with all ten wickets in hand but then there was a dramatic collapse and Australia were all out for 296 runs a lead of mere 30 runs. This lead looks even miniature considering the fact that Australia will have to bat last on this crumbling wicket. At one stage when the openers were going great guns it appeared Australia is going to get the lead in excess of 200 but once the openers were separated at 174, the rest of the team collapsed like a pack of cards. No other batsman except Johnson, who remained N.O. on 38, could cross 20. Australia will have to dismiss S.A. cheaply to get a realistic chance of winning the match and leveling the series.

Another great game on the cards... Do you think that Ponting should retire after this test match?

Every good thing has to end sometimes. i think it is time Ponting has to make a way for some fresh blood. If he does not make that decision, the selectors will make it for him. I also agree with fannekhan that he may come good at any time. There is no doubting about the quality of this great player.

Ponting is too good and may come good at anytime and whatever changes that need to be made can be done after this series.

Yeah, but with the present Aussie team they can't wait hoping that he comes good once every 15 innings.. he himself as captain stressed the need for consistency

It was once again a superb come back from south africa. As australians started i thought that they would simply reach 400. But the superb bowling performance from sa after lunch brought them back. Steyn produced some excellent piece of bowling. Took valuable 4 wicket. And the pakistan born south african spinofs also joined the party towards the end. Now the match is fully open. Second innings will decide this test match. For now its unpredictable.

Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir were superb with their bowling. Steyn picked up 4 and Tahir picked up 3 wickets. I too think that the second innings will decide the winners of this match.

Yes, it was a great fight back from south africa given the start of Australia. After Watson and Hughes literally set Australia on the way for a huge lead, the bowlers from South Africa fought back spectacularly. Dale Steyn was spectacular taking 4 wickets including the key wickets of Ponting and Hussey. Tahir also bowled well to wrap up the Aussie tail!! Cheers! Ram

Thank you ram. Australia seem to loose their way in between after the bright start. It has happened to them in first test also. I think they have lost the confidence in themselves.

Yes, brilliant bowling performance from South Africa. At one stage Australia were 174 for 1. But, after the dismissal of the openers they actually collapsed to just 296. They could have managed at least a hundred runs lead, but they wasted the opportunity.
