When i use the computer time flies by so fast... I even forget to do some of my assignments and study.. But when I am not on the computer, i tend to think more of what i am supposed to do and do it.. Computer kind of encourages me to procrastinate... since there are a lot of fun things to do when you have internet connection-many distractions to what I really should focus about.

I agree that time flies fast when on the computer, but my classes are on the computer as well so I have no choice but to be on the computer when it is time to study. I seldom play games, but I often am on facebook or mylot or other sites. I spend too much time on other things sometimes, but I do usually get my work done on time unless I am not feeling well (which happened a lot over the last 6 months). When not feeling well it is easier to do something that doesn't require concentration. I am on a break from school until the end of the month. Maybe by then I can be caught up on the 9 months of posts I am behind on in here and everything else I want to accomplish. Have a great week!!!

You are certainly right. There are a lot of things you can fo on the computer and with the internet, the possibilities are endless. That is why it is important to use the computer wisely. By doing so, computer use can be ab advantage considering that it can help you wirh your studies most especially on research and learning. Do not be tempted on distractions otherwise you will end up being entertained rather than being informed. The bottom line there is discipline. Do this and you will most likely be productive.

Yes, I think you are right there. Computer to tend to take over at times. With me I guess it's because most of my work it done using the computer these days. I have e-mails to answer to from clients and other tasks to be doing on line, like updating blogs and checking in here and on Facebook. It seems to be a different life to what it was 20 years ago, but I am grateful for the technology and I always turn off in the evening time to spend time with my family, just chilling out watching movies or TV shows... _Derek

Yes, I do have the same opinion as you. Sometimes, I have to turn off my internet so that, I can concentrate and to resolve all of my long overdue outstanding offline works. Without the internet, I realized that I can work more within the same period. But with this internet, I shall be more informative and joyful.

As much as possible, I try to do the things I need to do first before I go to my computer. I wanted to maintain it always. So that when I go to computer, I don't have to worry anymore.

As a student I also experience this kind of thing. Internet really do stray us away from the things that we need to do. But there are also times that I put my tasks over internet usage since I can't afford to fail in my college classes.

Why don't you get what you need to do done first and then get on the computer. That way you have your important things done and no reason to worry. Priorities are important and then we play. I would not know what to do with my internet connection. I would be bored to tears.

I think that it is far too easy to lose track of time when you're on the internet, however I work online so it is something that I have to be very strict with myself about. I have to make sure that I don't spend too much time on social networking websites when I am supposed to be working, because it is very easy to do so when you're not paying all that much attention. I will work for an hour and then spend ten minutes social networking and repeat this for the rest of the day, because it is the method that works the best for me at the moment.

I was once like that when we first had internet with wi-fi capabilities in our house. Like I could go to the porch, the living room, in our garage, any part of our house, with my laptop and just surf the net, sometimes forgetting the other thing I should be doing. But when my job involves using the computer for 8 hours, the enthusiasm lessened a bit. When I got home from work, it's as if I don't want to see any computer. It's a good thing though. I was able to do other important things.

Your absolutely right my dear, we tend to lost track of time if we are in front of computers. There are so many distractions that pops up that gets our attention. Curiosity is one thing too that get us hooked on them. My advise to you is, give priority on your works/tasks that need to be done first before opening your computer.Have a nice day my dear.

I do not like sitting for long periods of time doing one thing. I tend to spend a few minutes on my normal sites and then go and start a load of laundry or pick up around the house for a few minutes, and then come back to the computer. I also have a small child who demands my time. Currently, she is playing playdoh right next to me.

Well, why don't you try to do your assignment and study on your computer then? By doing that, I am quite sure that your computer would be more useful..

so true. haha, computers make us procrastinate. it's not good. that's why we need to keep a reasonable schedule to use our computers during a certain limited time frame. we can do other things, more important ones, finish tasks, have a more productive day. the exception to have it okay to use computers excessively is when you have an online job or online money making tasks.

A student's worst nightmare! I'm like you too, I'm too a student and have to study loads because I have to do my final exams next year which will determine my fate in my future career. When I'm not on the computer, I feel much more motivated to study and do my homework. But sometimes I need to use the computer to do assignments and pieces of homework. But once I turn on the computer and open the internet. I just start getting sidetracked and start getting on websites which I'm not suppose to when doing my assignment. I always check my email each time I open my internet. But if I get like a survey or an ebay notification. I find myself searching endlessly on ebay or looking at a survey. Then an hour later, I realize I haven't touched my assignment and then I quickly finish so that I can do the fun stuff online! I try to finish my work as fast as possible so I can have more time on the computer for myself. So I try to study first and get it out of my way before doing the things I want to do online.

It is funny you say that because I find I use the internet and my computer for that very reason. It is good distraction which I need for a while to change my state of mind for a period of time which varies. It is interesting how computers are becoming also more interconnection dependant. Yes, interaction can be a distraction. It takes a lot of willpower sometimes to keep motivated on your course. As a suggestion and I am not sure if you wish for one would it be possible to use your computer for your assignments. Say for example, even here in mylot create a topic that would remind you or tweek your interest to a specific area of study?

Well, I am an IT consultant and in charge of customer service via email. Plus, I do some small projects on the side. So I spend most of my time in front of the computer. And if I'm not at the computer, I'm always with my phone in my hand. Yes, a little addict :) I do enjoy Sundays, though, the only day I drag myslef away from keyboards and touchscreens, when I mostly spend my time writing postcards to various people :) Happy Saturday!
