Carlos Tevez Aftermath

I think this discussion will draw a certain flak but I'm just going ahead to post it with an objective mind. I am sure that the majority who have been following the international soccer will be aware of a recent surge of unprofessional and conduct unbecoming from spoiled professional soccer brats. Starting with the infamous team mutiny by France during the recently concluded FIFA World Cup Soccer Tournament in South Africa and then Carlos Tevez walkout on his team (Manchester City) during a European Champions League match. All of them, had been left off the hook and unscathed. Now, I am for one not a fan for such misconduct and the indifferent attitude from FIFA and league tournament managements. It will just set a precedence for more deteriorating misbehavior and misconduct. Based on the recent demand by another Manchester City team mate Kolo Toure, who threatens his home club of his allegiance if he is not being played as often as he would like to. I hate to say this but I feel that misconducts like this should ceased and most of all, disallowed from being repeated. It is just spoiling the good name of the game. Time to step up, people. You are right, this kind of behavior has nothing to do with football. But many players from the French national team were punished for doing this, Anelka was suspended for many international games, so did Toulalan, Evra and Ribery also, but they've got lesser suspensions. As for Tevez, he was fined with a reported sum of around 1 million pounds and I think he hasn't played a game for City since then. So they were punished, although I would have punished them more. In the case of Tevez he should have been forced to pay the amount of money earned at City back and being suspended for the remaining period of his contract, just to see that he is not so indispensable and he is not the center of the Universe as he believes. As for Kolo Toure, he just informed the City officials that he will move if he will not play more, which seems a logical decision. This is done by many players, just not in public.

yes, i think maybe Mancini must give the same chance for all his stars player.. before Kompany coming, Kolo Toure is the key player in defenders..

I do not think you are alone on this. I share the same thoughts with you that there has to be discipline in the game. But having said that these are the after effects of the massive inflow of money into the game. With quality players at a premium and new rich owners want immediate success, there is an open avenue for the players to be overtly demanding and ask clubs to live their attitude problems. I hope FIFA Financial Fair Play would put a stop on unhealthy spending and that might suddenly make the job market a bit less lucrative for such players and they would have to tone down their attitudes!! Hopefully this happens really fast!! Cheers! Ram
