In the name of more efficient administration, UP is going to be split into 4 states. I think it's a good move. Mayawati may capture power because of this move, but in the long run, I think, it's going to be more helpful to the residents of UP. If bigger states like TN or MH don't want to be split, it's their choice. But if other wants to split, I support the move. What do you say?

UP is a large state with a even larger population. In the recent years the administration has gone from bad to worse. The crime and law situation in UP, especially western UP is very bad today. I am in favor of splitting of UP as it will lead to better administration and hopefully law and order will improve.

There is no such agitation in UP like it is for Telangana or South Nagaland. In Manipur, the Nagas demand South Nagaland. Calling bandh for 100 days is witnessed. In fact, the agitation is worse there; worse than Telangna. And of course, Manipur Govt is asking the GOI to ban the Naga orgn that is asking separate state. Such is the polarisation between the Nagas and the Govt in Manipur. But the Nagas being minority are not able to do much in the state. In such situation, when the Govt is biased towards minority, I favour splitting the state. I wonder if that is the case in UP. If minorities are not given their due share, then UP should be split.

Hi anil2154, let me remind you that Bihar was also divided but it did not make any improvement in its law and order situation until Nitish Mumar came into power in that state. So it does not mean that division of UP is the solution for improvement in its law and order situation.

Anil I agree but that is the governance problem administration problem. There is lack of determination. Whoever has taken this decision to divide U.P in four is just to increase the chances to become CM and ministers. It has been long time since all parties including national parties have been exploiting the cast system that dominates here in U.P. Now when people of U.P are seeming to be aware of the fact that cast based voting is nothing for their leaders. All leaders were just exploiting the voters to win and come in to power..Now the political class has raised this issue of split U.P into four. Have you heard any public agitation from the people of U.P that they want any kind of division...?..the way we hear about separate Telangana rajya and vidarbha rajya..

I do not support this move of Mayawati. If UP is to be split, it should be done as per recommendations of an expert committee and not as per the political motive of any politician. It is nothing but a political master stroke of Mayawati. And I am sure the move is not for any public interest, it is only to gain political advantage over the rivals in the coming Assembly election.

Definitely, it is a political move. But as newspaper analyst writes, it is in the interest of the UP people. And she knew that if she does something of this sort, then she would win again. Quite likely. Question is if there are people in this big state who has been deprived of their right, and they want the state to be divided so that they also get their due share.

If it is really in the interest of the UP people, I have no objection though I have never come across any such recommendation by any newspaper analyst in any of the newspapers in Calcutta. But if it is the brain child of Mayawati, I would definitely oppose it because these sort of politicians are always guided by self interests and never cares for the interests of country.

The way we hear in news about separate Tailangana issue, vidarbha rajya issue, has anyone of you heard about any such issue in U.P.Except the the demand by Mr chowdhary ajit singh for Harit pradesh and a demand for bundel khand. But even for these two we hardly heard any big agitation anywhere..Suddenly we come to know that U.P should be divided in to four states..I am living in U.P and never heard of such problem here in here.People of U.P are not demanding this. Its just an agenda to keep the chances alive to stay in power back because when there are four states the chances to become a CM ,Ministers in any of the states will be more.. Its purely politically motivated. This is modern advance time where we can stay in touch to anyone who is out of the country then how can it be difficult for administration to manage things in U.P..? that logic that big state cannot have good governance is baseless

OK. If the minority is not suppressed, fine. But wherever minority is suppressed, then they should be given a separate state.
